Mertz played a huge role in Ashland’s defense as the Kittens made the deepest postseason run in program history. Mertz has great enthusiasm on the court going hard after balls every play. Mertz had 247 digs to help Ashland go 37-5 on the season, win consecutive 64th District and 16th Region crowns then drive to the state quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
