“What separates me from other 2027 players at my position is my work ethic,” Jeffus said. “I try to stay late at practice, I get extra reps, and I give my best when playing and in the weight room.”

Jeffus also takes pride in putting her team first. “I am always committed to my team by focusing on the community and playing for them, not just for myself.”

Although she is best known as a libero, Jeffus points to her versatility as another strength. “I’ve played libero, defensive specialist, and front row. I have all-around skills for the court.” As she works through the recruiting process, Jeffus isn’t chasing a particular level of college volleyball. Instead, she’s focused on finding the right fit. “What I’m looking for in a college is a supportive community and culture,” she said. “I also want a coach that can take my skill to the next level while I play there. I value academics and athletics because I want to be a student as well as an athlete, not just a player.” Ava boast a 33 on her ACT.

For Jeffus, genuine relationships matter more than a division label. “The most important factor in my recruiting process is for a coach to have a genuine interest in bringing me into the program. It’s about how I fit into the program and the school rather than specifically Division I, II, III, or NAIA.”

If a coach watches Jeffus compete, she wants them to see a player who is fully invested in every aspect of the program. “I’m going to give 110% work on the court, on the bench cheering, off the court with my team, and in the classroom. I will always work my hardest to do and become the best I can be.”

Jeffus is a very scrappy libero on her EVA 16 Elite team. She is really good at reacting before she thinks. Her reaction time is a huge reason to the success of the back row on her team. She is great at opening up to deep serves to give her setter a three pass and is great at running through the short serves. Jeffus out of system sets are also pretty good.
