Ava played for American, which played in the USA Division. They may have been a bit overmatched in that Division finishing 2-8 but Ava’s only comment was “I loved the competition. It can only make me better,” or words to that effect.

She sets while staying to hit right side when in the front row. She actually sets up in serve receive and nailed a pass to the setter. At 5’7″ she will need to grow a couple inches if she hopes to stay in the front row at the older ages. However, she has the will and intensity to succeed.

Ava is the second North Stafford player on this list with the potential to make varsity. Libero Kaylee Miller-Wood Kaylee Miller-Wood 5'2" | DS/L/S North Stafford | 2030 VA is the second.

Ava Rinne Ava Rinne 5'7" | S/RS North Stafford | 2030 VA earned a selection for this team because there was a need for a third setter as well as a third defensive specialist. American struggled against the high level of competition in the USA Division but that did not bother Ava. Her response to that was she loved playing at that level. It can only make me better.

Ava will play with American Division MVP Nyla Mclaurin Nyla Mclaurin 5'6" | OH North Stafford | 2030 VA at North Stafford. I moved Nyla from left side to libero based on the number of left sides on this roster.

She sets a 6/2 while also playing right side in the set I watched. She held her ground on defense popping up a couple hard driven balls hit down the line. Ava lists at 5’7″ which is a good height for a 14U. Her on court presence shows she controls the court, playing like a veteran above her age.

It would not surprise me to see her make varsity at North Stafford as a frosh.

Ava lists 5’7″, plays right side when not setting and provides decent pop for the position. She also shows she can play defense as well, standing her ground to make a couple digs on a couple hard hit line shots. Recently Ava set American to a third place finish in the ACPL. American also qualified to play in the American Division at Junior Nationals. She still has a lot more club playing time before she thinks about high school.

When that time comes her odds are good to make the varsity. North Stafford did lose a large class of seniors, including setter Sanai Jones. At least one of the setter positions could open up for her as a frosh.
