Bela Salazar Bela Salazar 5'4" | DS/L Perry | 2029 State AZ was one of the most impressive defenders we watched all showcase long. Her relentless hustle and determination were impossible to miss, as she chased down ball after ball and found a way to make plays regardless of the situation. She never gave up on a rally, bringing the kind of effort and competitiveness every coach wants anchoring the back row.

Beyond her defensive range, Bela was a constant communicator who brought positive energy to every point. She read opposing hitters exceptionally well, positioned herself with purpose, and consistently delivered clean out-of-system balls to keep her team’s offense in rhythm. Her combination of court awareness, ball control, and relentless motor makes her a true difference-maker on defense, and we’re excited to see the impact she’ll make during the upcoming high school season.

Now, when we write about liberos it all sounds the same… she is good at A, and B, and this… but I tell you what.. when you watch Bela move on the floor it is just different. THIS is why you need to go watch her play if you get a chance. She can be covering a hitter on the right side and will effortlessly move all the way back to base, dig a ball, and go cover another hitter. It really seems as she is moving at the fastest pace I have seen. It also helps that every ball she passes is a dime and her team can stay in system.

On the other side of her game play she shows advanced serve-receive mechanics with a calm platform, early angle recognition, and the ability to control first contact against tougher servers. She plays within herself, limits errors, and keeps the offense in system with almost every touch. She is showing poise well beyond her experience level and age each weekend she plays. Most importantly she seems to be having a good time playing and her energy is contagious as her teammates feed off her and seemed relax with their game play with her leading the way.

Bela is a well balanced libero who can contribute in a number of ways both with her game play and with her leadership. She is one of the fastest liberos I have seen play and is one of the best to do all the little things a coach needs. Make sure to catch her at a tournament this month as she continues to impress everyone!
