Hope Weiss is learning quickly and never getting beat by the same ball twice. Against Sports Academy, she saw a right side tipping deep to the corner instead of just over the block. After the first look, she adjusted her read, started owning that space, and helped her team close out two tight sets.
That kind of reset changes matches.
Her biggest growth this season has come through communication, and the lesson that sparked it was unforgettable. Early in the season, her coach felt she wasn’t vocal enough in warmups and didn’t let her wear the libero jersey.
That moment changed everything.
Since then, communication has become one of the defining parts of her game, and it’s helping her lead with more confidence and presence.
As Nebraska Elite prepares for Pre-Nationals in Kansas City and AAU Nationals in Florida, Hope’s game feels resilient, coachable, and increasingly vocal in the moments that matter most.

Back to that hustle drill I was watching on a bunch of different courts, Hope was side to side, front to back, she was everywhere getting a hand on the ball. In drills designed to make them reach and stretch further than their range should go, she kept getting there, and finding another gear. I like to label ‘bros as one of two styles, very fast, rangey players that make more flashy big plays, and then consistent, solid players that get to less balls, but make less errors. Hope has that first category speed, but I didn’t get enough of a look at her platform or passing to tell you how close to the second she is. The ones that have both are usually the big time prospects.

There is a high-motor defensive presence in how Hope Weiss approaches the libero role, with a focus on speed, anticipation, and consistent ball control. Her emphasis on aggressive serving and defensive quickness suggests an athlete who looks to impact the game through pressure and persistence from the back row. That mindset, paired with her ability to read plays early, points to a player who is actively working to stay ahead of the rally.
“I’m excited to show my competitiveness and defensive quickness at the Showcase.”
Her response reflects a player who values consistency, communication, and effort, with a clear commitment to doing the work required to become reliable in her role. There is a strong sense of accountability in how she approaches both training and team dynamics, supported by her attention to detail and willingness to improve.
She has been working on elevating her serve receive into an elite passing range while also becoming a more consistent communicator on the court. That focus on first contact and leadership aligns directly with her ability to create stability for her team.
We are excited to welcome Miss. Weiss to the SLC Showcase as she continues to build her defensive presence and apply her work ethic in a high-level evaluation environment.
