If you are picking a setter, you want one like Emerson Garner.  She is the straw that stirs the drink.  A 2028 setter for TPV 16 Maverick, Garner is the type of athlete who impacts the game in multiple ways.  She has finesse with how she controls the court with ease from how she defends her position to how she can chuck from pin to pin.  She has physicality in the front row where she knows how to lockdown and opposing outside hitter and picks her times when to attack.  There are plenty of attackers on her side of the net where she can run multiple tempos in different situations to score points.  TPV 16 Maverick had a tough tiebreaker on day two of MEQ which left them out of the day three gold pools.  They finished 8-1 overall and are a scary matchup the rest of the season. 

Garner is part of loaded teams with the 16 Maverick and at Franklin. Garner makes great decisions each time she touches balls. Garner has great size around her and she puts balls in her hitters’ power zones to make sure they can put balls down. Garner mixes in a nice setter dump and her first touches are solid. Garner uses her size to form great double blocks. Her versatility will continue to be an asset for 16 Maverick the rest of the club season.

Garner (pictured) runs the 16 Maverick offense with proficiency. She’s deceptive with her sets because she does not tip off blockers leaning which way she is going. Garner reads defenses well and has a deceptive setter dump. She makes gold out of out of zone first touches. Garner also has great timing on her blocks and places overpassed balls away from opponents. Garner said her setting is all about the team in terms of which hitters are hot and she tries to spread out the offense to opponents can’t key on one player.
