Gilliland gets on top of balls so hard and has such an incredible arm swing and wrist snap that creates a hard downward trajectory, making it difficult for defenders to dig her up. She is smoking balls like no one else in her class right now. It helps to have a talented setter on her club team. Gilliland more than handles a fast-paced offense. Gilliland has natural athleticism combined with a strong work ethic. A calm demeanor on the court more than helps her out. Gilliland has an amazing touch on serve reception and digs then can quickly wind up to take solid swings. Gilliland basically owns the back row. She digs up numerous balls near her.

There are a number of big reasons why Gilliland received an invite to the Under Armour Next camp. Gilliland has a great vertical leap and gets over top of balls almost every time she touches them then lowers the BOOM! Gilliland (pictured) continuously finds different ways to hit over and around blockers and find the floor. Gilliland has a great net approach and it helps her hitters often hit her at the peak of her swing. Even if defenders are in the right position, they may not dig Gilliland up because she’s that strong. Gilliland can even take huge swings from the back row. Not only that, Gilliland consistently makes the simple passes to get Bowling Green into a good rhythm and is an aggressive server.

Gilliland (pictured) has been named an Amateur Athletic Union All-American this year and last year for big reasons. Gilliland has great size and athleticism and made the most of it this year for the Purples. Gilliland showed in the state tournament she can put balls down off sound blockers and on solid defensive specialists. She has tough crosses and can go off blockers on go routes. Gilliland also takes solid swings from the back row, setting her apart from many hitters. Gilliland can handle tough shots from sound hitters on defense and is a solid blocker.

If you want star potential, then look no further! Chayse is a power house on the court and has highly developed skills for a sophomore! She puts in 110% effort playing all six rotations and is flat out from start to finish! She brings excellent energy and enthusiasm to the court and shows confidence, brilliance and dedication to her team. Chayse has an explosive powerful kill she can unleash in any position on the court, and is called upon often and for good reason. She has perfect mechanics with a fire of a swing executing perfect contact and excellent placement to tally those points. She has an amazing vertical which benefits her well timed blocks that she provides with excellent reach and great timing. She digs perfectly in the back row, softening up balls with accurate passing up to the setter with great form, and agility, not many get by her! Gilliand serves are mean and powerful, she can produce aces effectively to anywhere on the court! She is absolute fire on the court with excellent court IQ and shows great support for her teammates which is reciprocated, she is a total pillar for her team! Chayse would be at the top of our list and we are excited to follow what we are sure to be a successful path to stardom, if not already so! Not enough words for this amazing athlete!

Gilliland is back on the court and very determined. Her vertical has reached a high peak and it showed on her powerful hits to both lines, especially on the go routes. She has great wrist snaps to put more power into balls and take blockers away from the middle. Gilliland has also developed a good jump serve as a six-rotation player and makes crisp passes. Gilliland said she’s trying to be smarter, more agile and versatile on the court. She added she’s trying to be there for her teammates, noting her voice goes a long way.

Gilliland had played a big role on the outside for the Purples until her anterior cruciated ligament injury this past fall. Gilliland has been doing drills with coaches and personal training trying to prepare for her sophomore season and has recovered well. She’s increased her vertical jump by two inches from 9-8 to 9-10.

Gilliland has a great approach to the net. You do not know whether she will smack it or tip it until the last second. Gilliland smacks four and five-ball sets to different parts of the court. Gilliland has fully recovered from the season-ending Anterior Cruciated Ligament injury last year. Her vertical has improved from 9-feet-8-inches before the injury to 9-10. Gilliland had 113 kills before the injury helping the Purples go 34-7 overall, winning both the 14th District and 4th Region crowns on the way to a state quarterfinal finish.
