Rob Howe | Prep Dig Scout
Schmidt’s game really took a leap forward during the last club season. After playing an important role in helping Pleasant Valley win the Class 5A state championship as a junior in 2024, she showed a hammer from the outside given more responsibility with Iowa Select. Schmidt has since committed to Central Connecticut State University and moved into a starring role with a Spartan team in a quest to repeat. Through 82 sets this campaign, Schmidt has accounted for 161 kills (.194) with 91 digs and 27.0 blocks, ranking among the team leaders in all those categories. She’s expanded her game in becoming more effective hitting from the opposite pin and sharpening her overall volleyball skills. It feels like Schmidt also has plenty of room to grow before reaching her potential, as well, giving Central Connecticut plenty to be excited about.

Schmidt flying under the radar of colleges is somewhat understandable as she’s received less exposure at times while waiting her turn at PV. Coming off of an excellent club season with Select, Schmidt could see her stock jump up quickly with more opportunities coming her way this fall. Her statistics should spike from the 67 kills (.218) recorded a year ago. Schmidt is an explosive athlete with impressive leaping ability and hang time. She’s continued adding power to her attack, and there’s room for adding more in a college strength and conditioning program. Schmidt also has the traits to be a factor as defender at the net with more opportunities.
