Mendoza is a class of 2028 setter who features for Allen Academy and was with Houston Skyline BCS during the last club season. She has a rare combination of physical and technical tools that make her stand out as one of the most promising setters in the region. Very few players in the position can match Mendoza’s physicality, and she uses it to her advantage in every aspect of the game. She has excellent setting hands, is very stable with her setting platform and does a great job of speeding things up offensively and making life harder for opposing blockers when in system. Mendoza is also a determined defensive player and can be a threat from the service line.

Kathryn’s 6’0″ frame creates a setting release point and a net presence that almost no other setter in the state can replicate, and the deception her hand placement creates from that height gives her hitters information that shorter setters simply cannot provide at the same level. She also contributes from the service line with well-placed aces and stays active defensively rather than treating the back row as downtime, which tells you the full-game investment is real.
