Expert Analysis
Jesse Etter | Prep Dig Scout
Smith was a six-rotation mainstay for DaKine 16, and the team had arguably the most successful 16’s season of anyone in the state. The Timberline OH has been on the radar since her eighth-grade year and is a consistent all-around player with pop in her swing and the ability to find ways to score and make plays in the clutch.

Smith is a clutch player who delivers the big blows when Dakine needs a kill to finish off an opponent. She torched a swing down the line for a kill on an out-of-system set to get to match point, then Dakine front line blockers

finished the championship in style with a monster block for a three-set win over OVCV G16. Smith plays a terrific all-around game, consistent in all phases, and betters the ball when things get sticky.

Smith was excellent in Florida. The Timberline prospect played six rotations on the outside and was a steady force for her squad. She knows how to score as an attacker; she hits a heavy, accurate ball in and out of system and drops in a perfect lift tip when defenders are playing deep. Her serve-receive, and defensive game were top-notch in the back row. Smith hustles and rarely gives up an ace; against Skyline, she recognized and handled multiple tough, short serves, keeping her team’s offense flowing. Her three-ace run helped Dakine regain the momentum in the championship after Skyline had run out to an early lead.

Smith is a six-rotation OH ranked twelfth overall for the class of 2027 in Washington. In two matches, she handled 38 serves as a passer, tallied 41 kills, and racked up 28 digs. Although she is only a second-year player for Timberline, Smith has excelled as an athlete and leader on the court.

is poised and consistent, with nice length and a game that is more mature than a typical freshman. She worked right into a starting role at Timberline and ended the season hitting .250 from the outside, on over 800 swings. That is a terrific number for a 2027 taking that many swings her first year in high school. She added more variety to her offensive game than what we saw at the ECC where she played well as an eighth-grader, and was able to play defense and pass with grit and accuracy. She will be back with a tough Oly Reign team for the club season.

Smith had a big season for Timberline, and she showed why she was a first-team all-league selection at the Expo. She hits a heavy ball that has a way of finding the floor, both off the block and rattling through a defender. Smith was communicating well with her team during the Expo, staying positive in her encouragement and talking on defense.

*Smith had a freshman season to remember, blasting 343 kills and hitting .250 from her outside hitter spot. The Timberline 2027 prospect gave everyone a preview of what was coming at The Emerald City Classic last May, being named to the All-Tournament team for her Oly Reign 15 Gold squad. Smith posted four stat lines of more than 20 kills, and was able to get the job done in serve receive even when a few teams teams targeted her for entire matches. Her heavy arm swing produces kills to all areas of the court, and her hitting percentage of .250, on over 800 swings as a freshman indicates an ability to play the smart shot when needed.
