Today’s feature focuses on a few more Nebraska freshmen who are already making a splash on the prep scene. We’ve done a couple of these during the fall campaign, but this one is timely. Our first Class of 2027 watch list is on the horizon. Stay tuned.
For now, here’s a primer on freshmen we’re keeping an eye on after a few weeks of high school competition.
The 2023 high school season is technically not our first look at Eilenstine. This high-flying outside hitter had an extraordinary showing at this summer’s Prep Dig Showcase in La Vista. That set the stage for Eilenstine to be an immediate contributor with Elkhorn South, where she has put away nearly three kills per set for the Storm. Six-rotations skills are also a huge plus, keeping Eilenstine in the spotlight in more ways than one.

Hallie Lauenstein
Hallie Lauenstein
The Lauenstein name immediately evokes memories of floor-denting kills in the Waverly gym. The Vikings now boast double trouble with Hallie and Gracie Lauenstein putting up impressive freshman totals. In particular, Hallie is terminating at a 0.233 clip from the outside while notching over two-and-a-half kills per set. And, as we’ve learned from past Lauenstein iterations, the best is yet to come.
Breckynn Snyder

Here’s another family connection we’re following this fall. We all know that Concordia senior Brooklynn Snyder Brooklynn Snyder 5’8″ | OH Omaha Concordia | 2024 State NE is a dynamic attacker who can take over matches, but Breckynn is now emerging in the 2027 class. The future is here, and this athletic freshman is already putting away over two kills per set and hitting over 0.200 in her debut season. The Mustangs will take full advantage of this dual-Snyder impact while they have it.
The two-time defending Class A champs have not been afraid to lean on a few freshmen in early 2023 competition. Bails is just one example, and the Premier Nebraska product has made the most of her time in the Titan lineup. She’s compiling about two kills per set and has proven to be a worthy out-of-system outlet for an undefeated Papio South crew. It’s young stars like Bails that remind us of Papio South’s perpetual stance atop the Nebraska volleyball hierarchy.
Timmons is another 2027 athlete who has been on our radar since this spring’s club season. She emerged as a reliable outside attacking option for Nebraska ONE 15 Black en route to the team’s GJNC appearance in Chicago. Timmons is now amassing a whopping four kills per set for Fairbury and has given the Jeffs an instant spark in the frontcourt. What a first outing.

Peyton Langhorst
Peyton Langhorst
Archbishop Bergan has a new key contributor as the Knights look for a repeat bid in the state title match. Langhorst has lit up the stat sheet in a variety of ways, from her efficient kill production to her nearly four digs per set on the defensive end. This gives Bergan a wicked senior-freshman pin combo that will be tough to stop this season.
Playing a setter-hitter role as a freshman is quite an accomplishment. That’s the kind of impact Kvols is bringing to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge in her debut season. Her setting statistics alone are impressive with eight-and-a-half assists per set in the Bears’ opening matches of the season. But Kvols is also pitching in with a handful of kills on a searing 0.350 clip. It’s no surprise to see LCC thriving to a 8-4 record behind this youthful leadership.
Haleah Schuerman

Wilber-Clatonia is bringing up a six-rotation star from the freshman class. Schuerman has added a lot more than just kills in her trips through the frontcourt. She has also shown brilliant finesse along the end line as has already picked up triple-digit digs this season. With more of that all-around production, the Wolverines could build into a small-town powerhouse before long.
