Continue ReadingPrepDig Oregon released a poll awhile back asking everyone to vote on their prediction for the 6A State title winner. PrepDig is doing a write up on each of the top four vote getters. Based on the results, South Salem, Sprague, Nelson and Jesuit received the hightest number of votes. All four programs are top-notch and should advance well into the State tournament later this season. But, will one of these teams win it all? Time will tell.
Receiving the fourth most votes at 103 was Jesuit High School. Historically speaking, this is arguably the best volleyball program in the State with seven State titles. Most recently Jesuit has found themselves in the State finals the past two seasons. Last season, they fought their way to the finals beating Sprague and Nelson in five-sets. However, they fell shorts to Sheldon who ended up walking away with the State title after sweeping the Crusaders in three sets.
With the regular season coming to a close, we have been able to see this squad in action and have some impressive players to highlight.
With outside hitters Ceanna O’Loughlin (CSU Pueblo) and Isabel Patterson (University of Oregon) both graduating the Crusaders had two big holes in their line up. Luckily senior Emma Williams Emma Williams 5'11" | OH Jesuit | 2024 State OR and sophomore Sadie Ross Sadie Ross 6'2" | OH Jesuit | 2026 State OR have been able to step into these roles. Though only playing three rotations across the front row, the pair bring tons of offensive power to the team. Williams is hitting an impressive .331 with 251 kills on 480 swings with 12 blocks. Ross has amassed 228 kills on 523 swings, hitting a .273 with 29 blocks. Taking on a new role this season is senior hitter Lilly Lansing Lilly Lansing 5'11" | RS Jesuit | 2024 State OR , a recent University of California, Irvine commit. Previously dominating from the middle for the Crusaders, Lansing is seeing tons of success on the right side. Hitting an impressive .346 with 263 kills on 517 swings she takes the top spot for most kills on the team. She is also a huge presence blocking with 54 total blocks on the season, the most on the team.
In the middle the Crusaders look to sophomore Jada Johnson Jada Johnson 5'10" | RS Jesuit | 2026 State OR and junior Elliana Carroll Elliana Carroll 6'1" | MB Jesuit | 2025 State OR to do some damage. Standing at 5’10” Johnson is undersized for a middle blocker, but what she lacks in height she makes up for in her vertical jump and athleticism. Over club season with OJVA 15-1 she improved her attacking range leaps and bounds, seeing court time on the pin primarily. However, for high school season she has found herself back in the middle. She is hitting a .301 on the season with 88 kills on 206 swings and has 46 total blocks. She also does some serious damage from the service line with 22 aces on 250 attempts. Carroll exhibited tons of improvement over this past club season with Athena 16-1. So, she has entered into the high school season well prepared. Attacking, she is hitting a .151 with 40 kills on 106 swings and has posted 43 blocks.
With three of the top setters in the state in juniors Jackie Carle Jackie Carle 5'7" | S Jesuit | 2025 State OR , Hayden McGehee Hayden McGehee 5'7" | S Jesuit | 2025 State OR and sophomore Sloan Hefeneider Sloan Hefeneider 5'8" | S Jesuit | 2026 State OR the Crusaders are in good hands. Typically executing a 6-2 with some combination of these athletes, they look to Carle as their primary setter. She has ran a 5-1 the previous two season, getting the team to the State finals both seasons. She has posted an impressive 430 assists on 908 sets. McGehee has 164 assists on 375 sets and Hefeneider has 255 assists on 517 sets.
Their backrow is in solid hands with Addy Azavedo Addy Azavedo 5'4" | DS/L Jesuit | 2025 State OR , the top libero from the 2025 class. She exudes confidence, taking up tons of court on serve receive, creating exceptional angles to get the ball to the setter. On 353 receptions, she has a minimal 16 reception errors. Defensively, she reads the attack well and is able to quickly react to the ball. She has posted 236 digs on the season. With neither outside hitter playing six-rotations they are relying on their defensive specialists Kiana Johnson Kiana Johnson 5'6" | DS/L Jesuit | 2026 State OR and Tiana Takayama Tiana Takayama 5'0" | DS/L Jesuit | 2024 State OR to play the backcourt for them. Johnson is incredibly quick and picks up the unthinkable, posting 120 digs thus far. Takayama is consistent and calm on the court, positing 116 digs
