Mount Vernon (25-3): </strong>The Mustangs dropped their first match to an Iowa team this season, <a href="https://prepdig.com/2024/09/watch-pleasant-valley-vs-mount-vernon-at-fall-classic/">falling to 4A power Pleasant Valley</a> Saturday morning at the Mount Vernon Fall Classic. It was tightly contested. The Mustangs did top Dike-New Hartford, Liberty and City High in the tournament, and also swept visiting Center Point-Urbana in a WaMaC match last week. </p>

<p>Against PV, [player_tooltip player_id='215385' first='Chloe' last='Meester'] delivered a team-high eight kills (.333), and [player_tooltip player_id='215389' first='Sydney' last='Maue'] had four in the two-setter. [player_tooltip player_id='215387' first='Sydney' last='Huber'] handed out 17 assists along with collecting a pair of digs and 2.0 blocks. Eryn Jackson came up with seven digs, [player_tooltip player_id='508657' first='Paige' last='Schurbon'] had three kills and CaliAna Whitaker posted 3.0 blocks.</p>

<p><strong>2. Western Christian (14-9):</strong> The Wolfpack was unbeaten against Iowa competition last week, taking down Spirit Lake and Sergeant Bluff-Luton. It went 2-2 at the Sanford Pentagon tournament Saturday in South Dakota. </p>

<p><strong>3. Davenport Assumption (16-6):</strong> A 3-0 triumph at Bettendorf Tuesday was the Knights' only match last week. In it, middle hitter [player_tooltip player_id='230661' first='Ellah' last='Derrer'] contributed 12 kills (.500) and 5.0 blocks, both team bests. [player_tooltip player_id='215761' first='Ellie' last='Schubert'] recorded 33 assists, four kills, nine digs and 3.0 blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='215757' first='Alyssa' last='O'Neal'] (9 kills, 9 digs, 4.0 blocks), [player_tooltip player_id='694203' first='Belle' last='Cotton'] (6 kills, 10 digs) and [player_tooltip player_id='215436' first='Dru' last='Dorsey'] (13 digs) also stood out in the match. </p>

<p><strong>4. Dubuque Wahlert (16-4): </strong>The Golden Eagles picked up a pair of home sweeps last week, dispatching of Waterloo West and Dubuque Senior. Libero Kaylee Walter missed the Senior match but led the team with 12 digs against Waterloo West. </p>

<p><strong>5. West Delaware (26-3):</strong> 'Twas another productive week for the Hawks with their lone loss coming against a ranked 4A team (Cedar Rapids Prairie). That happened in the semifinals of Saturday's Cedar Falls tournament, where they did knock off Linn-Mar, Urbandale, Janesville and Grundy Center all in straight sets. They swept Independence on the road in a WaMaC match last week as well. Vedah Langel paced the squad in kills (12) and blocks (3.0) during the conference victory, while [player_tooltip player_id='730780' first='Hannah' last='Cantwell'] contributed eight kills, 10 digs and a pair of blocks. Olivia Halverson came up with 12 digs, and [player_tooltip player_id='523167' first='Natalie' last=''] Mensen handed out 20 assists.</p>

They swept their way to a championship at Saturday's South Tama tournament after picking up a 3-0, mid-week win at Durant. During the league victory, [player_tooltip player_id='215390' first='Jovi' last='Evans'] banged out 12 kills, and [player_tooltip player_id='389071' first='Harper' last='Pacha'] added 10. [player_tooltip player_id='215395' first='Dakota' last='Mitchell'] collected 21 digs, while [player_tooltip player_id='775157' first='Jeorgia' last='Evans'] and Lanee Duwa teamed up for 22. They finished 2-2 at Saturday's Nevada tournament, and picked up a 3-1 win at Van Meter last Tuesday. <p><strong>10. Kuemper Catholic (27-1): </strong>Strength of schedule had kept the Knights from jumping into the rankings this season, but 27-1 is 27-1. The loss came against 4A Heelan. Last week, Kuemper took down Shenandoah in five sets and swept Atlantic. Overmohle and [player_tooltip player_id='753919' first='Elsa' last='Tiefenthaler'] teamed up for 32 assists. </p>
