In case you missed it, we just covered a group of 2023 tournament participants who could dazzle us in Lincoln again this November. Our list of names keeps growing, so we're looking ahead to Part 2.

Let's bring another wave of gems back to Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Waverly's efficient offense wields a wicked combination of seasoned veterans and rising underclassmen. Landon leads the group of seniors and is playing some of the best volleyball of her career at the middle blocker spot. She's chipping in with about two kills per set and has upped her hitting efficiency to a 0.371 clip. Landon's lateral quickness makes her an ideal weapon on slide attacks, spreading Waverly's two-hitter offense from pin to pin. The Vikings sit fourth in the Class B wildcard standings and have gained serious momentum heading into the postseason.

Class B is staked with game-changing middle blockers. Levinson adds to this conversation and has maintained her leading role in the Gretna East frontcourt. Her production has soared to three kills per set this year--a nearly one-kill-per-set improvement over Levinson's 2023 output. The Griffins set a high bar last year after reaching the tournament in the school's inaugural volleyball season. However, Levinson and her team have had no problem rising to that level again in Year 2. Another Lincoln trip is looming.

Another Islander enters the spotlight. GISH has leaned on its exceptional senior class this year while pursuing back-to-back Class A tournament appearances. Wentzlaff anchors the setter spot and has averaged over ten assists per set for the second consecutive season. This outstanding clip has put Wentzlaff on the verge of 2,000 assists in just a pair of seasons with the Islanders. It's a reachable mark, especially if Grand Island makes another I-80 trip toward Lincoln next month.

Ryan has embraced her status as Overton's new go-to athlete. She was a steady performer through her first two years with the Eagles, culminating in last year's D2 state title. This year, Ryan has suddenly become the experienced leader in the lineup and has seen a meteoric rise in her offensive totals. She is terminating nearly five times per set and averaging a 0.347 attacking percentage to rank among the state's top scorers. Overton has answered any questions about its ability to stay in the title race after last year's graduations, and the Eagles are back at No. 1 in the D2 wildcard race.

This feature series has allowed us to reflect on all the great backcourt talent we saw at last year's state championships. Steinhauser captured our attention after bringing her fearless brand of floor defense to last fall's Class D2 bracket. She registered nearly 300 digs in 2023 and has already surpassed that total as a senior. Steinhauser's quality first touches have set up Stuart's offense for another campaign full of eye-popping numbers and resounding victories. This has placed the Broncos fifth in the wildcard standings with room to improve before sub-districts.

Kubat's breakout 2023 season has extended into 2024. She donned the libero jersey for Omaha Westside last year and helped the Warriors reach their third consecutive Class A semifinal appearance. The talented junior defender is on pace to surpass her 400-dig total from last year--all while competing against the state's most terminal attackers. Kubat's steady ball control and transition digs have kept Omaha Westside in the top three of this year's back-and-forth wildcard race, so another trip to the semifinals could be coming.

We might as well pay a visit to one of Class A's other vaunted powerhouses. Papillion-La Vista South is on a mission after coming up short in 2023's quarterfinal round. Dyrstad has remained on a torrid pace in the Titan backcourt and is close to exceeding five digs per set for the season. This also puts the Rutgers commit within range of 1,000 digs for her career, and she still has another year left at Papio South. Before that, though, Dyrstad has unfinished business in the postseason.
