Time to interrupt our state playoff coverage for a little promotion of our two Prep Dig Expos coming up December 7 in Rockville and December 14 in Baltimore. While I try to watch as many state playoff games as possible there exists a limit to the number of matches I can actually attend. Especially when coaching high school ball as well.

The Prep Dig Expo stands as an opportunity for players to come to Prep Dig rather than wait for Prep Dig to come to them. A rankings update will occur sometime after December 14. A number of new names will appear on the lists. The last rankings update occurred shortly after the Prep Dig Showcases in August.

The showcase on December 7 is located in Rockville. You can register here 2024 DMV Top 250 Expo | Prep Dig

Another showcase runs December 14 in Baltimore. You can register here 2024 Maryland Top 250 Expo | Prep Dig

You can get a group discount if you register three or more. Or if you use my code you receive a $10 discount AbelsExpo2024.

In addition to my presence there exists BallerTV to promote the play. While Division I colleges remain under a quiet period there is a possibility they could be watching. At our last showcase another Prep Dig scout watched on BallerTV to provide additional coverage on players.

The showcases tend to lean more towards the newer players seeking more exposure. More experienced players can also showcase their skills to move up in the rankings or perhaps receive notice from college scouts or club director watching on BallerTV. For younger players obtaining exposure in high school play remains difficult because of playing time. Many of the rosters are filled with seniors and juniors.

Some players from the class of 2027 who were added to the rankings based on their appearance in the August showcase include [player_tooltip player_id='553150' first='Joelle' last='Kim'], [player_tooltip player_id='530280' first='Lora' last='Totcheva'], [player_tooltip player_id='523664' first='Reese' last='Roberts'], [player_tooltip player_id='502514' first='Jenna' last='Kate Tanner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='520868' first='Caroline' last='Semko']. As the high school season began the opportunity presented itself where I actually watched three of these prospects play.

With a separate frosh showcase the names of players added to the class of 2028 were many. I will say that top performer [player_tooltip player_id='554770' first='Rujuta' last='Singh'] opened my eyes and has performed quite well during the high school season for Langley. [player_tooltip player_id='587876' first='Ariana' last='White'], [player_tooltip player_id='550688' first='Sienna' last='Mitchell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='536728' first='Lalah' last='Washington'] are other names who impressed at the frosh showcase and made an appearance in the top 20 class of 2028.

While the current list of attendees does not yet have a player ranked in my top ten the below list of players named as top performers at previous Prep Dig showcases now currently rank in the Virginia top ten rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='528707' first='Annika' last='Dandridge']

2025 - [player_tooltip player_id='235748' first='Ema' last='Djordjevic']

2026 - none, however [player_tooltip player_id='397536' first='Aubrey' last='Parker'] currently ranked at 19 earned a top performer award. She recently won player of the year for the Battlefield District all tournament team.

2027 - [player_tooltip player_id='296486' first='Taylor' last='Harrington'], [player_tooltip player_id='435745' first='Alyssa' last='Kumah'], [player_tooltip player_id='437441' first='Hunter' last='Ross'], [player_tooltip player_id='528707' first='Annika' last='Dandridge'], [player_tooltip player_id='290176' first='Kieran' last='Rhoton'] and [player_tooltip player_id='292644' first='Caycee' last='Chhum']. What is interesting about these players is that three of them appear rostered on the [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 16 team this year. What a talented group of players. Expect to hear some noise from them during the club season.

2028 - [player_tooltip player_id='536721' first='Ana' last='Woods'], [player_tooltip player_id='545725' first='Abisola' last='Adeyemo'], [player_tooltip player_id='569865' first='Eireni' last='Scott'] and [player_tooltip player_id='554770' first='Rujuta' last='Singh']

I will say that just because you participate in a showcase does not guarantee you a spot in the rankings. You still have to perform to earn that spot. But we do try to promote you as an athlete. Some names of players who appeared in our first showcase who did not stand out but later during the club season performed and appeared in the rankings:

[player_tooltip player_id='472384' first='Kate' last='Bickel'], [player_tooltip player_id='438046' first='Anna' last='Dierks'], [player_tooltip player_id='455102' first='Erin' last='Green'], [player_tooltip player_id='448705' first='Danika' last='Swanson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='235322' first='Avery' last='Prendergast']

Yesterday I attended a regional playoff match between Falls Church and West Potomac. [player_tooltip player_id='728465' first='Valen' last='Hanson'] played libero for West Potomac. While the Wolverines lost in five Valen impressed with her libero play. Another player I watched earlier this week [player_tooltip player_id='541140' first='Maris' last='Francescon'] impressed with her setting for Paul VI in a state quarterfinal playoff match against Bishop O'Connell. Both players will receive additional exposure at the Prep Dig Expo in December.

Hope to see you there.
