As December wraps up and we are enjoying that down time between Christmas and New Years, the club season will begin to ramp up soon. This team has historically had a lot of success, but some new faces and familiar faces will try for a bid to Dallas as USAV Nationals. Let's preview and take a deeper look at some of VCN's 16 Elite team for the 2025 season:

Pin hitter Ali Bornschlegl, who was a key factor in helping Norris topple 9 time defending State Champion Skutt Catholic in November. She will be the go to hitter this club season for 16 Elite. She has so much length and range when she hits. She has also developed more shots this past fall as well. The 5'11” sophomore can also elevate to get a sneaky tip over the block or great cut shot between blockers. She had 279 kills for the Titans this past fall as a three rotation outside and primarily played front row. Last club season, she played six rotations so we will see what this JVA Watch List player will do for Elite this season!

Elkhorn South's 5'8” [player_tooltip player_id='443108' first='Reese' last='Eilenstine'] joined VCN this club season. The outside will bring a lot of power to the pin position. She can tool shot off the block or power through the block. Eilenstine also has a great cut shot. She helped the Storm reach the State Finals, but fell to Papillion-LaVista South 3-0. Reese had 110 kills for the Storm this fall. Look for her to have a great club season!

Another pin hitter [player_tooltip player_id='521248' first='Livia' last='Drevo'], who was part of the 15 Black's 3rd Place finish at USAV Nationals in Las Vegas in July in the Liberty Division will be a great six rotation player for Elite. Drevo is powerful and can hit line or cross court. She also has a great driving float serve. Drevo is also consistent in serve receive. Look for her game to continue to elevate with the talent around her as well!

Waverly's [player_tooltip player_id='458165' first='McKinley' last='Moser'] will be one of the setter's running the offense again. The 5'9” setter had 1041 set assists for the Vikings this past fall. They fell to Omaha Skutt Catholic in the semifinals this year in November. To go along with her impressive set assists, she also had 132 kills and 46 ace serves. Moser is one of the most well rounded and talented setters in this age division. Moser is so smart and sees the floor so well. Look for her game to continue to grow!

6'3” Hayleigh Bauer will be a strong force in the middle for Elite this season. She runs a great slide and is powerful. She has a lot of range across the net as she played a pin hitter for Lincoln Southeast this past fall as a freshman. Another freshman playing up this season is middle [player_tooltip player_id='774910' first='Emma' last='Rink']. She has a lot of power and can hit any shot as well. She has a great knack for hitting a deep shot and staying behind the ball to give her more range. Both of these middles, despite their youth, do have a lot of experience as they are both returning from last year's 15 Elite squad.

Libero/Defensive Specialist [player_tooltip player_id='737370' first='Averi' last='Bridges'] racked up 408 digs and had 65 ace serves as a freshman. Her serve is hard to handle as it moves and tails off before reception. She plays relentless floor defense and gets a hand on everything. She makes it look effortless.

Another libero/defensive specialist is Kaelyn Lottman. Lottman was a defensive specialist for Norris this past fall who, as mentioned previously, knocked off Skutt in the State Championship. Lottman has a fantastic driving serve and had 56 aces for the Titans. She also racked up 251 digs. Lottman is also a threat from the back row with her powerful swing. The 5'6” sophomore also jumps well and is so smooth on serve receive and reads well on defense.

That wraps up the preview 16 Elite will kick off the club season at the Colorado Challenge on January 18-20. Looking forward to adding more analysis to the other newcomers on the team!
