VCNebraska’s Class of 2028 excellence is not limited to the 16s age group. Zajicek highlights a stacked group of sophomores who helped VCN 17 Elite clinch an early GJNC berth in Minneapolis. Any first-ball situation for 17 Elite was a chance for Zajicek to tee off against unprepared defenders. Her jaw-dropping line shots have become a focal point of the team’s offense. Zajicek doesn’t need a big window at the antenna to get the job done, either. Over-the-top scoring is commonplace for this elite opposite.

Most 2028s occupy the 16s age group this year, but we have a lot of 17s competitors to discuss after NIT. VCNebraska 17 Elite has set the standard for the Great Plains Region lately, and the team has leveraged its depth from the Class of 2028. Zajicek played a key role on the right side during 17 Elite’s bid-earning triumph at NLQ. That’s already a great start to the season, but Zajicek was ready to aim higher during 17 Elite’s visit to Kansas City. The Omaha Skutt Catholic sophomore scored at will at the opposite position, helping VCNebraska reach Triple Crown’s Elite semifinals. Zajicek and her squad have racked up a head-spinning list of accolades this year, and it’s only February.

Add another one to the list. 17 Elite has bolstered its right-side hitter depth for 2026, and Zajicek is taking full advantage of the Open stage. Her presence at the opposite position has provided a new layer of physicality and explosiveness for 17 Elite to leverage. Aside from her ability to produce floor-denting kills, Zajicek is also a strong wing blocker who matches up well with opposing outside hitters. That defense is essential to Open success, and VCN 17 Elite gets those contributions from multiple age groups.
