Next week will be the start of posts for club volleyball. This will be the final post on the standouts at the Maryland Prep Dig 250 Expo. Below are some players who may not have won a top performer award but still impressed at the Prep Dig Expo. Of course, this group surprised me a bit with their high talent level. Because there were no players participating who were ranked in any of our top ten classes, I anticipated a lower level of play. However, there were a number of players outside the DMV area and some players I had not seen yet that kept the play competitive. A number of surprising players to watch develop in the future.

She does not get a lot of setting opportunities playing for Wootton since [player_tooltip player_id='325600' first='Taryn' last='Su'] set a 5/1 in the matches I watched. However, she brings strong hands to the court and shows accuracy with her location when she does set. At 5'6" her height may be a bit undersized to play the front row. For the club season she should get the opportunity to set for Metro North.

Sofia does create some versatility in her game by playing as a defensive specialist when she does not set for Wootten. She showed quickness when playing defense while at the setter's position at the Prep Dig event. This should translate easily as a defensive specialist.

Her sister [player_tooltip player_id='735308' first='Audrey' last='Estabillo'] made top performer playing the libero position, They both play for South River high school and Master Volleyball Academy. Hannah is the setter and a year younger than Audrey.

What opened my eyes with Hannah is when she created a nice one handed quick set to the middle. At 5'3" she was still able to get her right hand over the net into the righthanded swing of the middle. That received a lot of reaction from the players and the coaches watching. She also ran a number of quick tempo sets to middle Katelyn Oranu. Katelyn struggled with the quick tempo sets with other setters but seemed to have a nice connection with Hannah when the sixes started.

Sophia came from New Jersey to attend this Prep Dig event. What stood out about Sophia was her lefthanded swing when she played right side. As a setter that is a nice attribute to possess. At 5'8" she put some balls down.

Sophia is only a sophomore. There exist oodles of time for her to improve on her setting mechanics and consistency in location. Ideally, if she can improve on her approach jump that falls just under 9" she could become an impact hitter on the right side. A setter who possesses both setting and hitting skills is rare.

At 5'9" she has some nice height for a setter. She also brings some impressive wrist snap to her swing as a right side. Finally, I always like a setter who incorporates a jump set in her repertoire. It keeps a defense off balance, especially when setting a 5/1.

Meg will play for [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 15/1 next year. That will provide her with opportunities to enhance her game. For her high school team she finished third in blocking and fifth in kills. She set a 6/2 staying in the front row to hit.

[player_tooltip player_id='735315' first='Zaire' last='Hewlett'] setter ([program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 15) - Zaire was a walk on at the event. She will also set for [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 15. Another setter with a lefthanded swing, though the extension and swing still need some work to create power. She has strong hands that can push the ball outside. While her overall game still needs some development there exists a lot of promise in her game.

[player_tooltip player_id='733269' first='Ava' last='Parker'] outside hitter ([program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 15) - Ava shows a quick wrist snap in her swing. While she is playing for the 15-2 [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] team that team qualified for Junior Nationals last year and finished 21st out of 48 teams in the Freedom Division. With a little more growth and enhancement in her jump Ava will be a player to watch.

[player_tooltip player_id='735332' first='Lois' last='Amewu'] outside (Metro North) - She listed herself at middle but when the groups were formed, she went with the pin hitters. At 5'7" that was probably a wise choice. She does show a good jump when making her approach to hit. The class of 2028 pin still needs some work on her hitting mechanics to generate a more explosive hit.

Michelle Romo libero/defensive specialist (MVSA) - Michelle showed some great hustle on defense. That is not a trait coaches can teach. A little more work to enhance her defensive and passing skills will make her a player to watch. She belongs to the class of 2028 so there exists lots of time to improve. She just needs the repetitions to create that consistency.

[player_tooltip player_id='735326' first='Zoe' last='Byrd'] defensive specialist/libero (Athletic Republic) - As a frosh she led her team in digs and was a primary passer in serve receive. She made some nice defensive plays at the Prep Dig Expo. Definitely, a player to watch. Zoe will play for Athletic Republic this coming club season.
