We are ready to hit 2025 running with events off and running. Let's take an early look at what awards we can forecast for this upcoming season. This preseason awards are all in good fun, but it does have us thinking about what athletes and teams could be catching the eye not only in Wisconsin, but across the country. Here are some preseason awards for the Wisconsin club kids!

Biggest Impact Club Change:

[player_tooltip player_id='388453' first='Ambryn' last='Aanonsen'] - I AM VBC to MKE Sting

[player_tooltip player_id='435358' first='Ella' last='Schuetz'] - MVP to Madtown

[player_tooltip player_id='388453' first='Ambryn' last='Aanonsen'] will be heading down the road from I AM VBC to [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] where she will be suiting up for Sting 17 Gold this year and a really intriguing Class of 2026 prospect. She has been playing out of the middle and with a left handed swing, it gives the other side a unique look. She will most likely be playing on the right side and has huge potential to breakout this season on a team who will have their eyes on the prize for another big season, after finishing in the final four of 16 Open

[player_tooltip player_id='435358' first='Ella' last='Schuetz'] has had a decorated high school career for Lakeside Lutheran and will take her talents to UW-Milwaukee. This year she will be playing for Madtown 18-1 National who should have a highly competitive team that has some other D1 commits that include [player_tooltip player_id='178308' first='Greta' last='Shadewald'] (Lindenwood) and [player_tooltip player_id='178307' first='Ella' last='Haines'] (Western Illinois). The Badger Region Qualifier at the 18s level will be quite the gauntlet to grab bids to Salt Lake City who will be hosting USAV 18s Nationals at the end of April.

Newcomer of the Year:

[player_tooltip player_id='403531' first='Addison' last='Buckner'] - MKE Sting 17 Gold

Mya Hemmer - [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 18 Elite

[player_tooltip player_id='403531' first='Addison' last='Buckner'] is new to the Milwaukee area this year and has already made her mark winning a state title for DSHA this fall. She will be on the [program_tooltip program_id='428672' first='Milwaukee' last='Sting'] 17 Gold squad where she will add plenty of firepower to the outside where she will team up with [player_tooltip player_id='249678' first='Marlee' last='Sivak'] (Maryland) and [player_tooltip player_id='223818' first='Isabella' last='Ruether'] (Troy).

Mya Hammer is one of the top athletes in the area that will take the state by storm, playing for [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 18 Elite. She is previously from Michigan and new to the area, bringing a lot of athleticism and physicality. Her skill set will be raw at the start of the season, but when this 18 Elite team takes the court at the Windy City Qualifier in a couple weeks there will be plenty of college coaches there to see what she can do.

Breakout Team 15s:

Spiketown 15.1

Spiketown which is practicing out of Neenah this club season has three 15s teams that will be highly competitive in the region. The Spiketown 15.1 squad started their season by winning the [program_tooltip program_id='428662' first='Wisconsin' last='Ice'] season opener this past weekend. They have a strong core of athletes who have seen varsity time as freshmen. An attacker to keep an eye on is [player_tooltip player_id='522525' first='Emma' last='Liebergen'] who preps at Oshkosh West. She was a standout at the Prep Dig Wisconsin Top 250 and will be one who has potential to score plenty of points this season.

Breakout Team 16s:

I AM VBC 16 Red

New facility, even bigger goals for I AM VBC who will have a brand new facility in the Cedarbug area. This club has been soaring up the rankings of teams within the Badger Region. This 16 Red team will be one to watch where many of these athletes earned post season honors in their sophomore year of high school. [player_tooltip player_id='435899' first='Morgan' last='Vetter'] is one of the top liberos in the Wisconsin Class of 2027 where she was a rock star for Kewauskum High School this fall, same goes for her teammate on the high school and club courts in [player_tooltip player_id='435886' first='Camilla' last='Kreif']. Some attackers to watch for would be [player_tooltip player_id='510485' first='Hannah' last='Heitzkey'], [player_tooltip player_id='388454' first='Paige' last='Proefrock'], and [player_tooltip player_id='496166' first='Ana' last='Degner'].

Breakout Team 17s:

One Wisconsin 17-1

One Wisconsin out of Green Bay is continuing to build their program where they 17-1 National team will be one to watch. They have one of the top 2027 outside hitters playing up an age group in [player_tooltip player_id='564276' first='Lauren' last='Tisler'] who had a huge season for West De Pere and was a big standout at the Prep Dig Top 250.

Breakout Team 18s:

[program_tooltip program_id='431479' first='Wisconsin' last='Juniors'] 18-1

The 18s year can be a little bit of a dice roll with different players leaving early for college or finishing their club year as 17s, but this [program_tooltip program_id='431479' first='Wisconsin' last='Juniors'] 18-1 team has a lot of college talent who will make some waves in 2025. [player_tooltip player_id='202164' first='Audrey' last='Heiring'] will be one to watch, the outside committed to Liberty is so athletic and blends finesse and power to score points. Gaby DiMotto, the recent UW-Whitewater commit will be a welcome addition to this squad too!

Biggest Verbal Commit:

[player_tooltip player_id='247272' first='Sari' last='Marks'] - [program_tooltip program_id='486375' first='Sting' last='United 17 Red']

[player_tooltip player_id='247272' first='Sari' last='Marks'] is uncommitted and the top available prospect from the Class of 2026. Highly skilled and on the radar of Prep Dig since the beginning, Marks is a unique talent. She is one of the top attackers in her class, but she is also a top setter. I stay out of the business of what athletes are doing at the next level. Does she want a place where she can do both? Set? Swing? She had a huge high school season at Sun Prairie West and will continue with a strong group in [program_tooltip program_id='486375' first='Sting' last='United 17 Red'] where many of these athletes have always played together. They will be one to watch this upcoming season.

Top Out Of State Individual Performance:

[player_tooltip player_id='511138' first='Amelie' last='Pankonin'] - Northern Lights

There have been athletes that have been playing club in Illinois and Minnesota who prep at Wisconsin. Kokoro out of the St. Paul area has always had strong athletes from Western Wisconsin. Sky High, VC United, and other Illinois clubs have benefited from Southern Wisconsin athletes. One athlete that college coaches will have their eye on is [player_tooltip player_id='511138' first='Amelie' last='Pankonin'] who is going to be playing for Northern Lights 16-2 out of Burnsville, MN. Northern Lights is always one of the top clubs in the country, known for their top tier training and high level competition. Pankonin is a bouncy outside six rotation outside hitter where she could be one who will creep up the ranks of the Class of 2026 and could have an exciting recruiting journey.

Wisconsin Small Club Player of the Year

[player_tooltip player_id='446662' first='Izzy' last='Reichert'] - Eau Claire Regis - Air VBC 17 Blue

[player_tooltip player_id='388556' first='Macy' last='Kline'] - Holmen - [program_tooltip program_id='429199' first='Hometown' last='Heat'] 17 Gold

I'm not sure what “Small Club” means in Wisconsin club volleyball. Air VBC and [program_tooltip program_id='429199' first='Hometown' last='Heat'] have been so key for the Eau Claire and Holmen/La Crosse area where they have sent players to college programs and have been key for improving high school volleyball in the area. They might have one or maybe two teams per age group. These two athletes were extremely key for their high school teams, leading them to the state tournament. [player_tooltip player_id='446662' first='Izzy' last='Reichert'] is one of the top setters in Division 4 where she was named 1st Team All State. Seeing her live on the floor of the Resch was exciting with how she simplified the game, great hands, and finding the hot hitters. [player_tooltip player_id='388556' first='Macy' last='Kline'] was the libero for Holmen where she has been making a name for herself since stepping on to the court. Both of these are uncommitted 2026 athletes who are ones to watch heading into the 2025 season.

Biggest Impact Playing Up:

[player_tooltip player_id='345274' first='Lauren' last='Sprague'] - Waunakee - 2027 playing with Madtown 17-1 National

[player_tooltip player_id='345274' first='Lauren' last='Sprague'] will be playing up an age group as a 2027 with the 17s. She is a six rotation outside hitter who is electric. She knows how to swing big, use the block, and mix in an offspeed shot. There is no fear in her approach. This will be a fun combo of athletes to watch where they have also added South Dakota State commit [player_tooltip player_id='388468' first='Hannah' last='Mlsna'] and Kansas City commit Savy Repinski who will make the trip over from the Winona, Minnesota area to play in Madison.
