Can you talk about high school volleyball and not mention one of the power house programs of the last century? This squad is highly touted for a reason and travels the nation to play in some prestigious tourneys. They just competed in a tremendously tough tournament in Texas this past weekend and fared extremely well. Junior outside [player_tooltip player_id='482047' first='Westley' last='Matavao'] is the ringer who has been almost unstoppable so far in this young season. Ranked as the best junior in the state of California, she has been killing the ball at a .314 clip and has tallied 88 kills in 17 sets played. Super junior middle [player_tooltip player_id='455792' first='Emma' last='Kingston'] is proving to be a monster at the net. Second on the team in kills and first in total blocks, she is having another phenomenal year. The other monster in the middle is senior [player_tooltip player_id='391082' first='Addison' last='Coady']. The six foot two USC commit is well known across the country and has been wreaking havoc on both sides of the ball. This might be the best 1-2 punch out of the middle on any squad in the entire country. Two more fireballers that this team can rock you with are [player_tooltip player_id='772595' first='Kaia' last='Ciszewski'] and freshman phenom [player_tooltip player_id='748210' first='Jael' last='Smith']. Most teams only have one or two setters who are capable of running the show at a high level, but this squad is stacked with [player_tooltip player_id='227273' first='Soraya' last='Dennis'], Samantha Capinpin and [player_tooltip player_id='451716' first='Kate' last='Scherlacher']. All three are battle tested and have amazing hands/location with the ball. You can trust that they are going to make the right play at the right time. Senior libero [player_tooltip player_id='850183' first='Lizzy' last='Robinson'] is making a solid name for herself in the back row digging everything that is coming her way. There is no shortage of stars on this roster and they are stacked from top to bottom. I would not want to be an opponent going up against them on a good day. We think they will be a formidable opponent all season long. Stay tuned for some more in-depth coverage soon.

Mira Costa Mustangs

This volume of the series is discussing power house programs and the Mustangs of Mira Costa throw their name in the hat every season. One of the main reasons why they have been so strong year in and year out is how their upperclassmen lead the way. [player_tooltip player_id='401372' first='Simone' last='Roslon'] is having a solid start to her senior season as she is leading the team in kills and attempts. Her swing is explosive and difficult to stop unless you have impeccable technique and timing. Fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id='807648' first='Cayenne' last='Ceman'] is known for her overall ball control as she stars on the sand as well. [player_tooltip player_id='482044' first='Sofia' last='Sala'], [player_tooltip player_id='391077' first='Audrey' last='Flanagan'] and [player_tooltip player_id='545293' first='Liliana' last='Swanson'] give the squad added firepower and are all assassins on the court. One of the best setting duos in the country sit on this roster. [player_tooltip player_id='391092' first='Milly' last='McGee'] and [player_tooltip player_id='311353' first='Reese' last='Stringer'] are ranked as the top two setters in the entire state of California and they are on the same team. That is bad news for every opponent they will face this year. Both have the capabilities of making defenses look silly with how they move the ball against the flow of the pass. [player_tooltip player_id='545233' first='Lerin' last='Rosenthal'] and [player_tooltip player_id='394276' first='Bridget' last='Blu'] are two other studs on this action-packed roster. Junior libero [player_tooltip player_id='780567' first='Brynn' last='Barry'] has been the main back row floor general who doesn't let much hit the court when she is near. This team is stacked and will be a tough out for anyone on any given day.
