Katy-Cypress Tournament High-Impact Setters

The back-to-back state champions are inserting new pieces into their starting lineup this season and the senior did well in connecting with them, standing out with her distribution and her ability to keep everyone involved. Cavanaugh always looked very calm on the court and was very consistent, keeping the team in a steady offensive rhythm. The left-handed playmaker was heavily influential in the team's play, orchestrating their offense and coming up with points in big moments. Brown ran a fast-paced offense when in system and was very accurate when working with passes of the net, ensuring her hitters were consistently in good positions to score. The setter also produced some impressive digs and was very disciplined when covering her hitters, often generating second-chance opportunities for her team to score. A very technical player, she was very efficient with her playmaking, consistently moving her hitters around and not repeating plays. Blazquez also did well in out-of-system plays, as she displayed great quickness to get to the ball and accurately deliver it to her hitters at the pin. The setter was one of their most interesting players, displaying great ability and intelligence to run their offense. Armed with great setting hands, Ross was very creative with her distribution and was very difficult to read for opposing blockers, which often gave her hitters the edge at the net. A very technical player, she kept the team's offense always well-balanced, sharing the ball evenly and making excellent decisions with her distribution. Dodd's game was very smooth when in system, and, perhaps most importantly, she was able to continue delivering accurate sets when she had to move off the net to chase an out-of-system pass or to jump at the net to get to a tight one.
