Texas HS: Ridge Point sweep Cinco Ranch in non-district match

<p>The high school volleyball season is underway in the state of Texas, and while many districts have already started their internal battles for spots in the playoffs, others are still in preseason mode, with teams using non-district matches to calibrate their game.</p>   <p>We, at Prep Dig Texas, are excited to cover another season of high school volleyball in our state and will attend multiple matches every week in the Houston area, producing articles, photos and social media posts that highlight the impressive performances and accomplishments from our players.</p>   <p>On Friday, August 29, we followed the non-district match between two traditional powerhouses in the Houston area, the Cinco Ranch Cougars and the Ridge Point Panthers, in Katy.</p>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong><a href="https://prepdig.com/2025/08/texas-hs-cinco-ranch-vs-ridge-point-photos/">Photos: Cinco Ranch vs. Ridge Point</a></strong></li> </ul>   <p>Despite playing on the road, Ridge Point had full control of the match and won 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-17). With that, the Panthers now have an 11-12 win record for the season, while the Cougars dropped to 4-10.</p>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/grtorres/status/1961593689668792479 </div></figure>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Performers</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">A few days after returning from Indonesia, where she represented the U.S. at the U21 World Championship, Robinson delivered a strong performance and led Ridge Point to a sweep. The senior outside hitter was unstoppable offensively, and Cinco Ranch had no answers for her swings, be it from the left, where she got some impressive bounces, or the middle back position. Robinson had a strong defensive presence at the net, coming up with big blocks and sending the overpasses that went her way straight down with powerful swings. She also appeared well on the backcourt, not only producing digs, but also stepping up to handset in transition when her setter made the first contact. Robinson had a little struggle with her passing on set one, but quickly recovered from it and remained stable in serve-receive until the end.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2025/08/2J4A0026_b9953f.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-882052" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Johnson did an excellent job of keeping Ridge Point in a strong offensive rhythm during the entire match. She got to work with excellent passing for almost the entire time and made the most of it, intelligently moving her hitters around and creating quick combination plays. The senior setter thrived with her distribution, diversifying well and not overloading any of her hitters. Despite not being very tall, Johnson also appeared well at the net, using her athleticism to have a solid blocking presence and to win jousts and score on setter dumps off of tight passes.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/grtorres/status/1961582458283200922 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Ridge Point's strong offense started with excellent passing, and Marquart deserves a lot of credit for it. The junior libero wasn't often targeted by opposing serves, but did really well when that happened and displayed great confidence to cover a large portion of the court in serve-receive. Very consistent throughout the match, Marquart also appeared well when playing defense, benefiting from her excellent positioning to get several touches on the backcourt and generate transition plays for her team.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2025/08/2J4A0070_7951b9.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-882081" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Chandler was used as a defensive specialist by Ridge Point and played the role to perfection, making a massive impact in the match from the backcourt. The sophomore was extremely reliable in serve-receive and split the court with Marquart, freeing up the hitters to focus on scoring points. Chandler also displayed great ability to play defense, standing out with her quickness and superior ball control. She served well during the entire match and was especially important from the service line near the end of set three, when she went on a long run with consecutive aces right after Cinco Ranch had scored some points in a row and set her team up to win in three.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepdig.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2025/08/2J4A0072_deeb21.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-882082" /></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Quinto was one of Cinco Ranch's best offensive options during the match, scoring at a good rate from the middle. Despite facing much taller opponents at the net, she played with great intensity and used her impressive physical tools to battle them on both sides of the ball. Because of their inconsistent passing, Cinco Ranch couldn't always feed Quinto in the middle, but when they did, she showed good variation to beat blockers and defenders, firing some powerful swings and mixing things up with tips. The sophomore used her length well offensively and fired powerful swings on some occasions, but also displayed great vision to score off tips and solid ability to hit sharp angle from the right.
