I made a trip to Meriden to watch the Jefferson West Tigers play for the first time on their home court.

The Tigers did not disappoint and knocked off the St. Marys Bears 25-13, 25-14 in straight sets.

Here is a look at the four stars of the game from the Tigers' opening season victory.

Schwinn had a solid hitting night for the Tigers. She is a step quicker than she was last season and is playing with elite confidence. Schwinn is ranked No. 34 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026. She finished the match with a team-high 10 kills. She has an offer from Kansas Wesleyan and is set to visit Highland Community College.

[player_tooltip player_id='446318' first='Harriet' last='Dean'], 5'7”, S, Jefferson West, '27 (Pictured Above)

Dean had an awesome serving game and finished with a team-high 16 assists. She split setting responsibilities with junior [player_tooltip player_id='659553' first='Savannah' last='Jackson']. Dean is ranked No. 16 overall by Prep Dig Kansas. She is so quick and pushes the ball well on outside sets. She also added one kill, one block, and two digs to her stat line in the win over the Bears.

[player_tooltip player_id='503697' first='Emmie' last='Dean'], 5'6”, OH/DS, Jefferson West, '28

The younger of the two Dean sisters started her season with a five-kill match. She also finished with three aces, 10 serve receptions, and two digs. She is ranked No. 10 overall in the Kansas Class of 2028. She is quick and elevates really well.

[player_tooltip player_id='728439' first='Liz' last='Deeter'], 6'0”, MB, Jefferson West, ‘29

Deeter is ranked No. 2 overall in the Kansas Class of 2029. She made her first varsity start for the Tigers and recorded six kills. She also finished with three serve receptions and two digs. I was surprised with how well she played defense. She has a long reach and will continue to evolve as a net monster.
