McKinney North might just have what it takes to be crowned champion in 5A. They have a 33-3 overall record and finished their district undefeated at 14-0. We have profiled them before earlier in the season and we have watched them prove every word that was written. We talked then about their balance on offense and they continue to showcase it. Any given night a different player can lead them in kills, but one thing is for certain…everyone will have a hand in the win. Out of all of the teams in this division, they are the ones who play extremely well together. Head Coach Libby Rodriguez has to be happy with her squad's performance. Five different players have over two hundred kills and average over two kills per set. [player_tooltip player_id='765143' first='Anna' last='Sayman'], [player_tooltip player_id='826408' first='Chloe' last='Lewis'], Tinley Brubaker, [player_tooltip player_id='826409' first='Kaitlyn' last='Jefferson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='827013' first='Nicole' last='Jacobson'] are the attackers who compliment each other so well. Talented junior Malia McNeal and senior Jordan Kowallis evenly distribute the rock to everyone and have this team ready for battle. One aspect that stands out even more than their balanced attack is how stingy this defense is. They have three amazing defenders that do not let anything hit the floor without solid pursuit. [player_tooltip player_id='803541' first='Gabi' last='Rodriguez'] is one of the best liberos in the entire nation and has been a star since her freshman year. If you are a young volleyball player who wants to watch a pro, give her a look and you will learn so much. Her effort level and keen tracking of the ball rub off on superstar freshman [player_tooltip player_id='534076' first='Brynli' last='Burgess']. She is the next great back row specialist for this squad and will take over the reigns next season. Second on the team in digs, she keeps the ball in play for this team to find a way to end the rally. McNeal and Sayman are just as solid on defense in the back row and help to ignite the momentum. Keep your eye on this team as they have a legit shot to run the table.

Highland Park always has a talented squad that contends for a crown and this year's roster is definitely proving that they belong in the conversation. They have a 37-8 overall record and a 14-0 undefeated district record. Three monsters at the net are very gifted when it comes to scoring the ball. [player_tooltip player_id='528761' first='Taylor' last='Toomay'] is flat out explosive from every single location on the court. She can light it up from the pins or come around for second tempo attacks out of the middle with power. The super sophomore is also very electric in middle back as she plays amazing defense from sideline to sideline. [player_tooltip player_id='845829' first='Sarah' last='Floyd'] is one of the most prolific opposites in the entire country regardless of grad class and will be playing for our Olympic team in a few years when she finishes college for sure. Libero [player_tooltip player_id='756614' first='Georgia' last='Whann'] is one of the top liberos in the country and leads this back row. Gigi is one of the best diggers when it comes to hard driven balls. Emily Keogh is another super tall junior who plays well at the net and could be a key offensive weapon for this star-studded roster. Super Star outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='478458' first='Susan' last='(Allie) Hudgins'] rounds out this electric squad who has what it takes to be crowned champion. When it comes to stars, this team can be a constellation map. When it is all said and done, they have the roster to get it done.
