We, at Prep Dig Texas, are excited to cover another season of high school volleyball in our state and will attend multiple matches every week in the Houston area, producing articles, photos and social media posts that highlight the impressive performances and accomplishments from our players.

On Thursday, October 9, we attended a match featuring two teams heavily involved in the playoff race in District 19, the Seven Lakes Spartans and the Jordan Warriors.

It was an incredible match, which saw Jordan win the first two sets and Seven Lakes come back to secure an amazing 3-2 (17-25, 25-27, 25-15, 25-23, 15-13) victory.

With that, Seven Lakes now stand at 8-4 in district play, ranking third. They have a 21-10 win record for the season and will play Paetow on the road next Tuesday. Jordan are second with ten wins and three losses, hold a 26-11 win record for the season and will have Katy as their next opponents, at home, on Tuesday.

The junior middle blocker caught fire in the most critical moment of the match and played a major role in Seven Lakes' incredible comeback. Ngoh registered some consecutive blocks at the start of the fifth set that gave the Spartans a little cushion and got Jordan a little bit out of balance. She had a tremendous performance at the net, leaving the court with 12 kills and nine blocks and dominated the game from the second set on. Ngoh was also pivotal from a mental standpoint as the points she scored often positively impacted her teammates on the court.

The junior outside hitter was Seven Lakes' most consistent player, displaying a strong level of play during the entire match, even in the first two sets, which her team lost. With the Spartans struggling a little bit with their passing at the start of the match, she carried their offense in the first two sets, being set very frequently at the pin and in the middle back position. Hobin led the team with 18 kills and didn't make many mistakes, despite being set in out-of-system plays quite often. She was very stable in every area of the game and also contributed four blocks, 12 digs and four passes.

The senior setter had an excellent performance in the night in which she surpassed 500 assists in her high school career. Do was a little bit limited with her options at the start of the match as she was working with out-of-system passes fairly often, but once Seven Lakes settled in serve-receive, she could run their offense with great intelligence and efficiency. The setter gradually brought her middles back to the game, and they both ended up being pivotal for their victory. Do played excellent defense, registering 15 digs, and scored four points, with an ace, a block, a setter dump and a lucky play in which she covered one of her hitters and saw the ball hit her body and go straight into the floor across the net.

Okwura's game grew a lot during the match, and she was a big factor in the Spartans' victory. Matched up with a much shorter Jordan middle, she took full advantage of her height and length to dominate the net and make an impact on both sides of the ball. The sophomore produced excellent numbers, tallying eight kills and an impressive 11 blocks, and made a big defensive impact at the net, creating problems for opposing hitters.

The senior was excellent in her dual role on the right and was a big part of Jordan's best moments in the match. Ribakovs' playmaking was excellent, as she picked her setting options very intelligently and played fast when she could to help her hitters avoid Seven Lakes' big blockers. The left-handed player was more needed than usual offensively and responded well, producing at a high volume and putting the ball down in key moments for her team. Ribakovs also appeared well playing defense and contributed to the team's serve-receive efforts in some rotations.

Originally an outside hitter, Wright-Woods was used in the middle and, even having a hard time facing much taller opponents at the net, she still found ways to contribute to her team's performance. The junior used her all-around game very well, playing a unique role which saw pass in some rotations at the net and hit from the left and the right. She was able to put the ball down important moments and played at a consistent level throughout the match.
