Top Performers: 4A State Final Four

The WIAA nailed the top four seeds heading into the tournament, and all four top teams made it to the semi-finals. The final was an instant classic with Lake Stevens rallying past defending champs Curtis in a decisive fifth set in the battle of the Vikings. Wenatchee handled Gonzaga Prep in the battle for third and fourth, sweeping past the Bullpups 3-0.   Here are several of the top performers from the top four teams in the 4A State Tournament.    Eichert capped her high school career with a state title. The OH, headed to Oregon, had been pushing towards the championship starting in her freshman season. She delivered a steady stream of punishing kills, showing off an impressive and accurate angle swing and 4 to 4 rip inside the block during the semi-finals against Gonzaga Prep. Her complete game was on display against Curtis; she battled through some early adversity and took home the final set in impressive fashion.     Morales had an excellent weekend, hammering down kills and playing with terrific energy for Curtis. She is an outstanding athlete with solid length and was able to put it all together on the court all season for the Vikings. She is an uncommitted player to watch- she has the size and arm speed that programs are looking for.     Migliuri ran a balanced offense out of the 5-1 for Gonzaga Prep, and helped lead Gonzaga Prep to their first trophy at state since 2003/2004. She is an excellent defender both at the net and out of the right back. She was able to create offense with crafty second-ball attacks and her ability to turn and swing, or jam down a tight pass, for a kill.     The powerful middle was the Panthers' most efficient and terminal attacker. She was hammering kills from in front and behind the setter, and her length and fierce competitiveness bothered opposing middles. Jones will play next season at Central Washington and is a player who has grown her game consistently year over year.     Gonzalez played a spectacular floor game all weekend, culminating in the reverse sweep over Curtis in the final. The senior is headed to play for Western Oregon next season; she sets an accurate, hittable ball and has a hard-to-handle serve that kept opponents off balance all weekend.     The top setter in the 2027 rankings is a dynamic, tough performer who plays with grit and has a terrific overall game. Harris can score as a setter, whether she is playing in the front or back row, and understands finding her hitters when they are on a hot streak or in a favorable match-up.     Demirjian will play beach volleyball at Florida Atlantic. She has plenty of power and quickness on the indoor side; she was excellent in the 3rd/4th-place game, helping the Panthers deliver a sweep of Gonzaga Prep. Similar to many of the best beach players, Demirjian has a well-rounded indoor game; she can pass, deliver a clutch block or ace, and defend hard in the back row.     Strom delivered clutch blocks when Lake Stevens needed them most. She was an excellent option for her squad offensively when teams keyed in on attacks from the pins, and Strom was able to score and carry her share of the offense.     Duong flies around the court; she was outstanding for Curtis, giving her attackers confidence to take swings with her ability to cover. The senior libero has excellent fundamentals in serve receive, and she brings hustle and tenacity on every point. She couldn't be rattled in serve receive and scored against bug blocks without being high error.   Jurney Jelsing- Wenatchee: Jelsing was the quarterback of the offense for Wenatchee. The Panthers' offense was rolling all season, and it continued to hum at the Sundome. Jelsing moves easily around the court and has accurate, soft hands when she finds her attackers. She is versatile, having played middle, setter, right side, and opposite throughout her high school career.
