The Chesapeake Region captures near 30 bids by my count in the 14-17 age group once the dust settles and each club moves up a slot. Or at least that is how I think it works. The new additions are a result of the recent Paramount Nick 17 and Paramount Nick 15 earning Open Bids. The spread sheet has not been updated so those clubs Italicized are only my projections. Changes could occur based on club availability.

At the Big South, [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 17 Nick swept past their first two opponents on the first day. The third match against Academy Diamond turned into a three set thriller with [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] barely coming out on top 25-23, 20-25, 15-13. The next day [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] won their three team pool, defeating A5 Calvin 22-25, 25-23, 15-12.

On Sunday they played in another three team pool. They lost their first match in three sets to TAV Black Haroun 25-18, 19-25, 11-15. A sweep of NKYVC Tsunami 25-16, 25-23 gave them first place in their pool with a 3-2 set record. All teams finished 1-1 after match play. Tsunami downed TAV in three 29-27. 21-25, 19-17 to put their set record at 2-3 while TAV sat at 3-3. [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] advanced to the gold bracket with a bid already clinched.

They played A5 Calvin in the first round of the playoffs. While they had beaten them on the second day it was A5's day to come out on top this time 25-23, 25-14. The third place match against Triangle Black did not get played since both teams secured a bid.

That puts the pressure off [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] and their All Star cast. Four of their top players are committed to Division I programs with the top prospect in the Class of 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='296486' first='Taylor' last='Harrington'] (Penn State) on the roster of the U.S. U19 National Team. Their two outsides [player_tooltip player_id='528707' first='Annika' last='Dandridge'] (Vanderbilt) and [player_tooltip player_id='435748' first='Aaliyah' last='Green'] (Connecticut) and their other middle [player_tooltip player_id='435745' first='Alyssa' last='Kumah'] (Old Dominion) all appear in the top ten of our class of 2027 rankings.

Other players to note are right side [player_tooltip player_id='534058' first='Alexa' last='Bracey'] (Delaware), [player_tooltip player_id='455102' first='Erin' last='Green'] and [player_tooltip player_id='577516' first='Mariska' last='Ordonez'], setters [player_tooltip player_id='529251' first='Jessica' last='Li'] and [player_tooltip player_id='298857' first='Ingrid' last='Smith'] as well as libero and defensive specialists [player_tooltip player_id='536716' first='Diane' last='Nzoupet'] and [player_tooltip player_id='279856' first='Kayla' last='Luther']. Diane belongs to the class of 2028 and ranks in the top ten of that class as well. A number of intriguing prospects yet to commit including 6'3" middle [player_tooltip player_id='753065' first='Isabella' last='Adcock'].

While the [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 17 Nick team powered their way into a bid the [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 15 Nick team battled their way into a bid at the Show Me Qualifier, bouncing back from a number of setbacks. They showed their grit on numerous occasions to earn that Open bid. On the first day of pool play they played in a three team pool, splitting with their opponents. They captured the second place finish with the tie breaker rule. To advance to the gold they swept New Age in their crossover match.

Day two proved to be another day of struggle as they lost their first two matches, the second one 15-13 in a three set loss. They swept their third match to finish 1-2. Normally, teams with 1-2 records do not advance to a gold bracket however [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] was fortunate that there was a three way tie for second at 1-2. [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] won the tie breaker with the best set percentage of the three teams to finish second.

This advanced them to the gold bracket where six of the eight teams who advanced already earned an Open bid. [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] did not have to win a match in the bracket to earn their Open bid, however when you looked at their competetion that may have been a blessing. [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] finished 0-3 in pool play as did the second team in the other pool NLVA who had yet to capture an Open bid. [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] appeared a bit overwhelmed by their opponents, all of whom finished in the top ten in Triple Crown. Madfrog (first in Triple Crown), Dallas Skyline (third in Triple Crown) and KC Power (5th in Triple Crown) swept Paramount in all three matches, reaching 20 points only in a set against KC Power.

[program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 15 Nick are led by pins [player_tooltip player_id='747560' first='Elliot' last='Dorgan'], [player_tooltip player_id='787919' first='Charlotte' last='Booth'] and [player_tooltip player_id='779106' first='Isabella' last='Jeantel'], middles [player_tooltip player_id='755129' first='Lillian' last='Battcock'] and [player_tooltip player_id='763151' first='Sydney' last='Lewis'], setters [player_tooltip player_id='747031' first='Braylin' last='Coacher'] and [player_tooltip player_id='752431' first='Kayla' last='Chang'] and libero/defensive specialist [player_tooltip player_id='747458' first='Angelie' last='Rose Carrasco'] and [player_tooltip player_id='763157' first='Olivia' last='Li'].

Paramount 15 finished in 37th place in the Triple Crown. When you consider 32 teams in the Triple Crown make the Power bracket that puts them in good standing next year to get a higher seed. Playing three of the top ten in the gold bracket will also provide them with a good idea of where they need to focus on skill wise.

USA - Virginia Juniors (Won the Liberty Division Bid at Northeast Qualifiers. They are the highest to take over for Paramount, who went from USA to Open)

Teams italicized are my projections based on what I think the next up philosophy would be. Don't know if teams can turn down a bump up or whether new teams getting a bid have not already committed to other travel issues, i.e. already booked for AAUs.

The Old Dominion clubs prefer the AAUs in Orlando, Florida. [program_tooltip program_id='498495' first='Richmond' last='Volleyball Club'] earned a couple bids in Qualifiers last year but turned them down.
