Woodbridge broke out to have a strong season last year. They finished second to Colgan in the Cardinal District. They accomplished this with a young team of frosh and sophomore standouts. Sophomores Caroline Freeman Caroline Freeman 5'5" | DS/L Woodbridge | 2028 State VA led the team in digs while Maria Coronel Maria Coronel 5'10" | MB Woodbridge | 2028 State VA led the team in blocks. Frosh setter Braylin Coacher Braylin Coacher 5'9" | S Woodbridge | 2029 State VA ran a 5/1 leading the team in service aces and assists. Her favorite target on the team was left side frosh Elliot Dorgan Elliot Dorgan 6'1" | OH/DS/L Woodbridge | 2029 State VA .

Last year Woodbridge lost in the first round of the Regional playoffs to Mountain View. This year both setter Braylin Coacher Braylin Coacher 5'9" | S Woodbridge | 2029 State VA and Elliot Dorgan Elliot Dorgan 6'1" | OH/DS/L Woodbridge | 2029 State VA played for Paramount advancing the team to the Open Bracket in the Junior Nationals.

Elliot struggled a bit against this high level of competition, but the experience should improve her game for the high school season. At 6’1″ with an approach jump nearing 10 feet Elliot is difficult to stop when in a zone. She will again lead the team in kills but this time it should lead Woodbridge into the state bracket playoffs. Colgan has won nine straight Cardinal District titles defeating Woodbridge last year in the last match of the season. This year it should be Woodbridge that will take the Cardinal District title. There are a number of 6’1″ bangers from the left side who are certainly deserving of playing in Division I. Elliot is one of those. She really broke out playing for Woodbridge High School getting them close to playing in the State bracket. Unfortunately, they fell short of getting to that dance. Now that she is in the Open Junior Nationals dance it will be her time to shine.

She plays six rotations, hitting missiles from the back row. The last time I watched her play her passing could use some more polish but having her in the back row for her offensive production gathers the points.

Definitely, a player you want to take a look at. This class of 2029 is loaded with talented pins and she clearly sits atop thatlist.

She can play both right and left side. At 6’1″ with the power she shows in her attacks she would be wasted as a libero. While she hits from both pins she appears better utilized on the left side where she can also provide offense in the back row. Her approach jump hits 9’6″.

While at Woodbridge her passing showed a bit of inconsistency, but that is true for many players at this age. She recently expressed an interest in beach this summer. That will certainly improve the passing game, though the passing for beach tends to encourage a bit of a lower arc than the indoor game.

This weekend Paramount earned an Open Bid in the Show Me Qualifier. Elliot moves from # 7 to # 5 in the class of 2029 ranking.

Paramount ranks number two regionally while also ranking at number 20 nationally. They had a very good showing at Triple Crown finishing a respectable 37th place. This would put them just short of the power pool for next year. Elliot is their big bomber from the left side who scores the majority of points for Paramount, whether she hits from the back row or front.

She gets excellent arm extension on her hits leading to some good velocity. If she can get some improvement on her approach jump of 9’6″ she could reach the next level. When compared to the Metro players and even a couple of her own teammates who are about equal in height they can reach 10 feet or more.

Last year she added sand volleyball to her athletic pursuits, which also include lacrosse and basketball. I found that my beach play helped with my indoor play, especially when it came to my jump and serve receive.

Another 6’1″ power source from the left side. As a frosh she was the top hitter for Woodbridge in their surprise season battling for a playoff spot. She led the team in kills and hitting percentage. For Paramount 15 she is their big offensive threat.

She lacks the approach jump of Ava, but she is a year younger. She plays six rotations because of her ability to be an offensive force from the back row. Her power and consistency have seemed to improve from her high school season to club.

She currently ranks number 7 in our class of 2029.
