2029–2030 Players Making Winning Adjustments Earlier

It shows up in the middle of rallies, in the small reads, the quick decisions, and the willingness to adjust before the same play beats you twice. For young athletes, that ability to process the game earlier often becomes the difference between simply competing and truly impacting winning.   This group was given the opportunity to break down their own game through reflection, and what stands out is the level of awareness already taking shape. Different positions, different personalities, and different championship paths, but one common theme: these athletes are starting to recognize the game sooner, trust what they see, and make adjustments that help their teams stay one step ahead.    Elyse Wong is a hitter who is beginning to score with more than just pace. During pool play, she recognized an opposing middle arriving late to close and immediately changed where she was attacking, moving away from line swings and using sharper angles to create separation.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> It helped me and my team get them more out of system or even getting ahead in the game. </blockquote>   That same growth is showing up in her offensive toolbox. She mixes shots, opening up different swing options, and becoming more comfortable scoring against a wider range of defenders instead of relying on one attack pattern.   Leadership also shows up naturally in how she describes her role. She wants teammates connected whether the energy is high or low, and with bids already secured in both 15 USA and 15 Open, her focus now turns to SCSN Championships and Nationals with communication and trust at the center. In one of her early matches, she noticed an opposing outside waiting for her setter to commit before attacking line, and instead of reacting late, she repositioned early and turned that read into defensive stops.   That kind of awareness is what allows young players to start influencing points before the ball ever crosses the net.   Her offensive growth is centered around precision. She is fine-tuning shot accuracy and placement so her swings create more than just contact, they create scoring pressure.   Outside of volleyball, leadership opportunities and visualization have become part of how she prepares, and it shows in how thoughtfully she approaches competition.   With an American bid already secured and Triple Crown in Mesa ahead, Sloane's game feels prepared, intentional, and increasingly strategic.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Arianna Gregory's on court adjustments don't just impact one play, it influenced how her entire team responds. After recognizing her hitters were getting blocked, she made the decision to cover more aggressively, and the rest of her team followed.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> My team ended up following that and we were able to recycle. </blockquote>   That's a subtle moment, but it speaks to both awareness and leadership.   Her serve receive has become noticeably more reliable as the season has progressed, and she credits quicker feet, lighter movement, and technical consistency for that growth.   With a Liberty bid already earned and major events like SCSN Championships, and Nationals still ahead, Arianna's game continues trending toward a libero who stabilizes rallies and helps her team stay connected through momentum shifts.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Addison Yarbrough recognizes that power alone isn't going to solve the problem. Against a physical block, she adjusted quickly, finding space directly over the top and forcing the opponent out of system instead of trying to hit through size.   That's the kind of adjustment that changes how an entire rally unfolds.   Her growth this season may be showing up even more on defense. She talks about learning to “play defense first,” coming off the net sooner, and reading tips earlier, which has expanded how much she contributes before she ever gets an offensive touch.   With regionals ahead and a bid still in front of them, Addison's faith, quick resets, and growing all-around awareness are helping her game feel increasingly complete.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Lexi Rushton reflect a player who embraces challenge instead of avoiding it. Facing bigger blocks this weekend forced her to get creative, make quicker decisions, and trust her adjustments after early swings were taken away.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> I had to be very smart in the swings I was taking. </blockquote>   That shift toward intentional attacking is showing up in her production.   She also credits coaching feedback centered around attacking sooner, contacting the ball higher, and staying fierce in transition, all of which are helping her see cleaner scoring windows.   With the Summer NIT in Mesa still ahead, Lexi's game is trending toward confident, aggressive, and increasingly efficient under pressure.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Mary Dickau's growth this season is showing up in the details that often decide longer rallies. She has been adjusting her angle, getting her feet set earlier, and staying relaxed enough to handle hard-driven balls down the line.   Those small changes have created bigger defensive consistency.   Her reads are also improving. She describes learning how to watch hitters' elbows and hands earlier, helping her pick up more tips and keep more balls alive for her team.   Outside of volleyball, a highly competitive family environment has shaped how she encourages teammates, handles pressure, and keeps positive energy on the court.   Her team may not be heading to Nationals this season, but her focus on training, reps, and long-term development makes her a player worth continuing to follow.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Evelyn Anderson already understands something many athletes take years to fully learn, pressure usually reveals who can stay steady when everything around them speeds up.   During a tight third set that extended into extra points, the opposing team repeatedly targeted her in serve receive, knowing the pressure was building with every rally. Instead of tightening up, Evelyn focused on resetting before every serve, slowing her breathing, and locking back into the next ball. Those controlled moments helped her deliver key passes that kept her team in system and emotionally connected when the match mattered most.   That type of composure stands out at any age.   Her growth this season has centered around leadership just as much as volleyball. Confidence, communication, and learning how to stay positive under stress are all becoming more natural parts of her game, and it is showing up in how teammates respond to her during difficult moments.   What also stands out is how balanced her approach already feels. Honors classes, volleyball, leadership responsibilities, and high-level competition are all part of her daily routine, yet she continues talking about discipline, dependability, and being someone teammates can count on first.   With a National Division bid already secured for USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship, plus the NIT Tournament in Mesa, the Under Armour Next Camp, and a summer camp at Stanford University still ahead, Evelyn feels like a young athlete already learning how to lead, compete, and stay composed in bigger moments.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Sofia-Rose “SR” Husband is already seeing the game through a blocker's lens. After recognizing an opposing outside repeatedly attacking cross court, she made a subtle adjustment inward and turned that read into multiple stuff blocks.   That kind of confidence in her reads creates immediate pressure.   Her growth in coverage is showing up as well. She talks about reading tips sooner, reacting faster, and trusting teammates to finish points even when coverage temporarily pulls her out of the offense.   With an American bid secured, plus SCSN Championships, Triple Crown Summer NIT, and GJNC still ahead, SR's urgency, competitiveness, and commitment to refining her sharp-angle attack make her one to keep tracking closely.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     Olena Harasymowycz is a player already preparing before the whistle. After studying film and learning that an opposing setter liked to dump from the front row, she entered the match ready and turned that preparation into multiple defensive stops.   <blockquote class="wp-block-quote"> I was ready to go on the first point. </blockquote>   That type of anticipation is rare at her age.   She also talks about taking up more of the court, especially in the middle of the floor, allowing her setters to stay in system and trust her to own more space.
