Athletes receiving their first legal contacts directly from coaches have already received calls from various coaches around the country. As of the writing of this article, six Indiana-based athletes from the class of ‘28 have received those calls and unofficially committed to programs. However, we still have a great number of athletes in the earlier class, the class of 2027, that can and should receive similar attention because of their respective skill sets. Here are five setters that should be next in receiving that all-important call from the next level.

Of the five setters listed today, none have a more consistent hand placement than Claire. Being a very handsy setter, the deception with which she works holds opposing blockers long enough that her undersized hitters can consistently find holes in the defense and score. That advantage is key to making an offense effective, and Miss Peacock is elite in that respect.

Spending a lot of her time as a DS at Munciana, Reagan is an undersized yet athletic setter that locates the ball very consistently. That consistency, coupled with her quickness and footspeed, make her ideal for a small school looking for that setter to make their team better OR a setter that can be part of a 6-2 that requires elite location to make their hitters more effective. No matter how you think of Reagan, she's the answer for a lot of collegiate programs looking to improve their setter depth chart.

Among the setters listed today, none defend their position better than Miss Ducey. Her ability to put defense first and resist the temptation to release early has kept her team in points more often than you can count. As far as setting is concerned, Claire is more than capable of running an offense on her own, and has done just that at both the high school and club levels.

I don't normally mention two setters from the same club program in the same article, yet here we are. It's hard to pass over Miss Ring, as she's another hands-first type of setter. That hands-first habit, however, allows her deception to be above average, and has made her team around her significantly better with her at the helm of the offense. Playing bigger than her frame, Bethany is also an above-average net defender for her size and position, and can turn defense to offense quicker than most setters still available at this juncture.

A hidden gem at Monon Select, Sami's ability to set any ball in any situation at any time is her calling card. Playing at a more “regional” club like Monon, she's hidden enough that only locals will know of her, making her an ideal steal of a recruit when you watch her work. With training at a high-level program like Brebeuf, she's more than capable of being coachable, athletic and possesses a higher-than-average volleyball IQ.
