Best of the Best: AZ Freshman Showcase Pins

As we finish up our showcase articles this week, I wanted to dive into some pins that I saw that really came out to play. These are not all the good pins that were there, as we had so many great pins that came out to play! However, these 8 really stood out with their all around game play, energy, and ability to impact the game each and every time I saw them at the showcase!   Without further ado... here are some of the top pin hitters from our showcase:    Arijana looked really good at our showcase and is someone who could make some serious waves this fall during the high school season. She has a lot of potential but she already is showing several high level tools in her game. She is a strong offensive force who generates a lot of power through her swing and can score in multiple ways. She is comfortable taking on a block and has the ability to hit around it when the opportunity is there. She has a full offensive range from the pin and can attack sharp angles, deep corners, and especially the line with a lot of confidence. Her ability to consistently find the line and score there could become a major weapon for her.   She also handles herself well defensively, both with her blocking and passing. At the net, she uses her physicality and reach well and does a nice job getting her hands over the net to take away space from opposing hitters. In the back row, she shows solid ball control and is capable of handling herself in serve receive while continuing to stay engaged in the play. What stands out most is the combination of power, versatility, and upside she brings to the pin. Arijana has the tools to be a major contributor this fall, and came to show case and demonstrated why she is one of the best pins out there.     Sophie balled out at the showcase with her play throughout the event. I was very impressed with her offensive ability while also being fast and fluid enough to be a high-level defender and a reliable passer in serve receive. Offensively, she is a handful for opposing defenses. She has a quick approach, gets into the ball fast and hard, and does a great job creating options with her swing. She can attack with power/pace but also has the control and court awareness to change shots when the block takes away her first option (has a very good tip shot). Her ability to stay aggressive while still making smart decisions makes her a tough pin to defend.   On the flip side, her defense is next level as well. She moves extremely well, reads the court quickly, and consistently puts herself in position to make plays. On top of that her serve receive is a major strength, as she shows good platform control and can handle tough serves without taking herself out of the offense. She also transitions quickly from defense into attack, which allows her to stay involved in every phase of the game. She also can take good swings from the backrow as well, only adding to her value as a player. Overall, she has a bright future and at the showcase really did well with her ability to show she is one of the best.     Olivia is a fun pin hitter to watch, especially during our showcase, where her ability to stand out on the pin was evident. She is a great offensive force who can score in a lot of ways and can make an out of system ball just as effective as an in system ball. She is dynamic in her movement as well, as she is fast and mobile enough to consistently get into a great loading position and maintain good timing on her swings. She attacks the deep corners especially well and can use the off-speed shot when needed, showing a strong understanding of the court and a high level of offensive IQ.   She also has the tools to be a legitimate 6-rotation pin, as her ball control really stands out. She is comfortable handling tough serves, keeps the ball controlled in serve receive, and has the defensive range to contribute in the back row. Her ability to transition from defense into offense is another strength, allowing her to stay involved in the game regardless of where she is on the court. Olivia brings a combination of athleticism, offensive creativity, and ball control that makes her a very complete pin prospect and really showed up as one of the best pins there.     Sofia is a very good player and someone who has a high ceiling at the rate she is developing. Not many pin hitters have the ability to attack at a high level from both sides of the net, but Sofia has the versatility and skill set to be a high-level option on either pin. Her athleticism really stands out, especially in her movement through transitions and her ability to get into her loading position quickly and efficiently. She has a strong arm swing, and her approach mechanics, timing, and overall attacking technique are already at a very high level.   She also has good ball control and does a nice job staying composed when the ball is not perfect. She can make adjustments in serve receive, keep the ball playable defensively, and transition into an offensive role without losing her rhythm. Her contact point is consistent and she always seems to get good form on her passes. Altogether her ability to attack different areas of the court, combined with her athleticism and versatility, makes her a difficult matchup. She is definitely a player I would keep an eye on and is one of the best of the best from the showcase, she has a chance to make some waves this fall!     Payton has a lot of great skills that she really showed off at the showcase. She has a great swing, is athletic, blocks really well, and has strong defensive instincts that consistently showed up during game play. Her defensive range, both at the net and in the back row, was impressive to watch. She did a great job reading the play, getting into position, and making touches that either kept the ball alive or put her team in a position to score. She has the potential to be that 6 rotational player that schools and clubs want!   Offensively is really where Payton shines. She can score from both pins and does so with a lot of power, pace, and range. She has the ability to attack different areas of the court and is not dependent on just one type of swing to be effective. She can take a ball high and hard, work around the block, and use the deep corners when they are available. Her athleticism also allows her to stay aggressive even when the set is not perfect, giving her the ability to turn difficult situations into scoring opportunities. Payton can play defense to a high level and score to a high level, it is no wonder that she is one of the best players at this showcase and someone to keep an eye on this fall!     Harlow had a great showcase and really came to play, making herself stand out with how well she performed throughout the event. She has a strong presence at the net on both sides of the ball, showing the ability to impact the game with her blocking and offensive attack. Offensively, she does a great job hitting with pace and creating pressure on the defense. She can attack through blocks when given the opportunity, but also has the ability to work around the block and find open areas of the court. Her combination of size, athleticism, and attacking ability makes her a difficult matchup on the pin.   Defensively, Harlow is a big physical presence at the net. Being around the 6-foot range gives her plenty of length to work with, and she does a great job getting her arms and hands over the net to take away space from opposing hitters. She shows good timing and physicality as a blocker and can create quality touches that either result in points or slow down the opposing offense. She also does a nice job staying involved after the initial block attempt and competing for the next ball. Loved the way she played at our showcase and is easily going to be one of the best of the best when it comes to pin hitters!     Brooklyn does a great job of being a very athletic and powerful weapon on offense. She is someone who can handle a high volume of sets and consistently turn that volume into points for her team. She has a quick and aggressive arm swing that allows her to generate a lot of pace, and she does a nice job attacking with confidence even when the set is not perfect. She has the range to score to different areas of the court and uses her athleticism to create good swings and put pressure on the block.   She also has the mentality and hustle to be a true 6-rotation pin. She competes hard in every phase of the game and does a good job using proper form and technique to consistently produce quality passes and defensive touches. She moves well, stays engaged after the first contact, and has the ability to transition quickly from defense back into offense. That combination of offensive firepower, athleticism, ball control, and competitive mentality gives Brooklyn a lot of value as an all-around pin. The future is bright for Brooklyn, and she showed why she is one of the best pins at the showcase and in the class at this showcase.     Stella really did well at the showcase and is someone who is good enough, and athletic enough, to do multiple positions and things for a team. I know this is a “pins” write-up, but Stella is good enough to be a middle and a pin, and is willing to fill the need for her team whenever it is called upon. That asset is evident when she is hitting, as she can run almost every set along the front row and is capable of scoring from all along the front row. Her approach and timing are great, as she had a connection with all her setters in each drill.   During game play, she was a force on both offense and defense. She has a lot of reach and gets a lot of blocks at the net, using her physicality and ability to press over the net to take away space from opposing hitters. She does a good job reading the attack and putting herself in position to make plays defensively, while also showing the ability to transition quickly from defense into offense. Her versatility, athleticism, and ability to contribute in multiple rotations make her a valuable piece for any team. Stella is the type of player coaches can move around the court and trust to make an impact wherever she is needed. She was one of the best of the best at the showcase for sure!    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   The 2026 Summer Showcases were an incredible way to wrap up the club season, and we couldn't be more excited about the talent we saw on display.
