It boasts high-end talent at the top and really good players throughout. Thinking about its future in the game and beyond is exciting.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fortunately, these student-athletes have another prep season to shine. If you're a volleyball fan, seek out these kids if they're playing in your area. Schools travel around the state on Saturdays (and sometimes during the week) for competitive tournaments. They're fast-paced and fun with intriguing match-ups featuring super players.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Let's take closer look at members of the class. Her 326 digs ranked second on the team. Jondle checks in at No. 39 overall in the latest Prep Dig Iowa rankings yet remains uncommitted to a college. I thought her strong play for a PowerPlex squad that reached the USAV National Tournament this summer in Indianapolis should spark more interest. She's not the tallest or quickest kid in the gym but she moves well, can handle herself anywhere on the court and can jump. She stepped into the libero role last season, when the Spartans made it back to state. This summer, she helped United claim its second regional championship in a row. Her teams win. That's not a coincidence. Allaman has just steadily improved. She's technically sound in the back row with a good understanding of her assignments. Lateral quickness and fast reactions aid her success. Allaman flows well with the action and settles into position off the block. She's consistent and sound, this club season helping the team reach the USAV national tournament. That performance came on the heels of dealing out 967 assists 119 sets during Janesville's trip to the state finals last fall. That outfit is ranked No. 1 heading into this season. Pollock has a lot to do with her squads finding success. She shares a great connection with her attackers, shows a strong feel for match flow and can make all the plays required of her position. Pollock does well in sharing information with her teammates and making sure everybody is on the same page. She ranked just two kills off the team lead with 282 in 100 sets, adding 86 digs and 24.0 blocks. Edgington continued her ascent with a strong season for Roots Volleyball Academy. One of her best traits is the ability to play multiple positions. As a quick athlete with explosion and a strong vertical leap, Edgington can get on top of the ball from either pin. She shows a good feel for flowing with teammates and the action, getting into proper position to make plays. She's done a nice job working on blocking and becoming more effective in that area. When watching her at the state tournament, a natural feel for defending the back row was apparent. Kooima enjoyed a strong season with Salty and continues sharpening her game. She's becoming more assertive and taking control. Kooima learns from opponent tendencies throughout matches and makes proper adjustments. She's poised for a sensational senior season.
