The 2026 ASICS Challenge once again proved why it remains one of the country's premier midseason events. Hosted by Mother McAuley and spread across multiple venues throughout Chicago, no single gym could contain the level of talent, intensity, and energy on display. Teams from the local, regional, and national levels arrived ready to make a statement, turning every court into a battleground. Individually, some of the nation's top prospects showcased their abilities, while coaches were challenged to adjust, respond, and survive a relentless schedule. There was little time to catch a breath, let alone regroup. Every set mattered, every point carried weight, and every team entered with the same goal: to leave Chicago with gold, bragging rights, and validation that they belonged among the nation's best. As the field narrowed and contenders emerged, only four teams remained standing, each proving they had the talent, grit, and resilience to survive one of the toughest weekends of volleyball competition this season.

Mother McAuley High School (Chicago)

The 2026 Gold Bracket Champions, without a doubt, deserved this trophy and the right to say they earned this. The field was stacked, but they did not waver, whether facing opponents for the first time or even the third time, which is the hardest thing to do, but they conquered. This team, led by the direction of their floor general [player_tooltip player_id='504014' first='Peyton' last='Heatherly'], whose superb decision-making helped put the game away easily for this relentless attack. Keira McQullan, [player_tooltip player_id='529814' first='Jayce' last='Prohaska'] and [player_tooltip player_id='781325' first='Chyla' last='Jukes'] were on the receiving end of those sets and made the most of almost every ball. Keira flying and punching it through, Jayce matching energy with cross-court bombs, and Chyla's versatility on full display, comfortable and healthy, bringing any intensity from all angles. Laying it out on the defensive end were the warriors in the back [player_tooltip player_id='522631' first='Ava' last='Calle'] and Natlie Dematteo. [player_tooltip player_id='761532' first='Alyson' last='Cahill'] and [player_tooltip player_id='697329' first='Riley' last='Wilson'] played major roles in some huge matchups in the middle and never blinked.

[program_tooltip program_id='430230' first='Assumption' last='High School'] (KY)

Fighting their way through a field of champions in their own right, then having to match up against a team in the championship game, versus a team you face now for a third time. Now that's a story in itself. Coming into the game, each team has a win. Assumption is loaded with a never-say-die mental style that keeps coming at you, matched with talent to back it. This team becomes a scary opponent to prepare for. Their terrors in the middle [player_tooltip player_id='484326' first='Carle' last='Hooe'] and [player_tooltip player_id='851613' first='Julia' last='Lee'] provide set the tone perfectly with their ability to create a wall as well score at their will. Setting them up is [player_tooltip player_id='603778' first='Addison' last='Hurley'], a steady and consistent hand that is quick to the spot every play. Watch out because you never know when she's looking for a dump or three of her own. Leading the flying attack is [player_tooltip player_id='611724' first='Brooke' last='Codey'], [player_tooltip player_id='912809' first='Harper' last='Poole'], and [player_tooltip player_id='611743' first='Taylor' last='McKenzie']. Brooke is an elite all-around player who is dynamic and attacks from all over. Taylor is a bouncy flyer with touch, and Harper balances the attack, working the floor. Covering the back, [player_tooltip player_id='484323' first='Cheyenne' last='Reyes'] tracks the ball at a high rate and leads the charge in the back row.

Marist High School (Chicago)

Marist is by some the team to beat, target on their backs. Easy to see why, the schedule and their sheer size could intimidate or motivate. Depends on the team, but it doesn't change the mindset of the Redhawks because they are always prepared for war, as if they are the underdogs. Keeping them fiery will be their silent ball handler, [player_tooltip player_id='546846' first='Haven' last='Enselman'], keeping them honest and on their toes. Putting them in the spots needed always and often, even doing the dirty work herself at all times, blocking and scoring. Anchors in the back, Claire Kyle and [player_tooltip player_id='435769' first='Ariella' last='Link'] share the duty of defense and passing, making sure the system runs. In the middle, [player_tooltip player_id='846643' first='Sommer' last='Shaw'], [player_tooltip player_id='530636' first='Kate' last='Steinmetz'], and [player_tooltip player_id='976658' first='Maeve' last='Gill'] are anchoring the middle being the point of attack and deterring attackers. Sommer is stepping up her game as her confidence has grown, becoming a force in the middle, and Kate is as consistent and relentless as always. On the wings are [player_tooltip player_id='435905' first='Taylor' last='Berg'], [player_tooltip player_id='781970' first='Annie' last='Tracy'], and [player_tooltip player_id='479571' first='Maggie' last='Kurpeikis'], always playing above the net and levels unmatched. Maggie is playing at Elite status all around and not slowing down, and Taylor is doing more than matching her being a leader with her play.

Mercy High School (MI)

Mercy the most youthful group in the final four. Wasn't let that stop them from becoming champs, nor afraid of the competition, and from the looks of them, you may not even have known their true ages. This team is balanced with size and speed, maturity and youthfulness, and their coaching has done a fine job with it all, obviously. Kate Kalczynski, Laura Aubrey, Cydnee Drake, and Cate Verkeyn paced this squad with a steady barrage of power and athleticism; this interchangeable group is dynamic and versatile. Each bringing their own flair and special mix to it, keeping teams guessing and scouting reports wondering what's coming next and from where. Setting them up is another hybrid in Kaelyn Easton, who is a dynamic and special talent. In the back, keeping the balls alive and plays from getting away from them is Anna Naida. Holding down the middle is the force Valerie Marx that provides a mix of finesse, power, and maturity for this young athlete. The future is bright.

📧 Connect & Work With Me

For inquiries, connections, or coverage opportunities:

👉 Visit PrepDig.com

📱 Follow on Socials

• Instagram: @PrepDigTobias

• TikTok: @tobiaswalkeac

• X (Twitter): @PrepDigTobias |@TobiasWalk

🔥 TobiasWalker10 – Official Code & Contact Hub

🎟️ Use Code: TobiasWalker10
