Codey may keep her teammates loose off the court with a sense of humor, but she’s all business on the court. Codey competes hard on every play and can help both her club and high school teams a number of ways. Codey primarily plays defense at the club level. She’s switched in and out of the libero spot for 16 Red. Codey has developed great range playing sand volleyball. When Codey does swing, it is with a purpose. She can land balls in the back row and off blockers for big points.

Codey has played some libero during club season and has excelled at first touches per usual. She’s coachable and uses it to her advantage on the court. Her poise is also remarkable on the court. Codey does not get rattled by mistakes. She bounces right back and betters balls on the next play. Described as hard working, determined, kind and competitive by teammates and close ones, Codey takes hard swings and continues to find different ways to put balls down.

Codey (pictured) had a phenomenal state tournament capping it off with a double-double in the state championship game. Codey is a sound, six-rotation player. She makes crisp passes then sets up in her offensive attack form. Codey has great hitting angles. She runs sound tandems in the front row and smacks hard crosses to the opposite line on go routes. Codey did not start off the strongest but came through at the end. Codey makes things happen out of system and powers balls with authority from the back row. She can hit balls off blocks for big points. Codey had a huge dig on Dyas down the stretch. Codey said powerful digs are about reading balls and putting her body in the right spot. She wants to pass balls to setters under control to nicely set up the offense.

Codey made the rotation for the 24-time state champion Rockets as a freshman, which is extremely tough to do. The versatile Codey continues to dazzle in many different ways. She is a solid option from all six spots on the court when the Rockets need a big kill. Codey has a great platform to dig up hard and softly hit balls all over the court. Her range more than comes in handy there. Codey is a great teammate with her positivity and laughter both on and off the court. Codey has 151 kills and 105 digs so far for the 17-2 Rockets.

Codey is an amazing player to watch. Codey not only plays club, but also hits the sand scene quite a bit and that’s helped her coordination among other things. New challenges do not bother her, including adjusting to speed of next levels. Codey played up to the 16 Red team during club season. Codey is courageous on the court, not afraid to sacrifice herself to keep plays alive. Codey pounds balls from all six spots on the court. Codey’s ball control is rising fast. Codey had 118 kills and 230 digs for the Rockets in the fall, helping Assumption go 35-8 and win the state record 24th state championship in program – all since the first one in 1992.

When a coaches challenges Codey to do something better, she finds ways to more than surpass those expectations. Codey is trying to turn into a solid player in all positions. Her defense has really taken an upward turn in recent weeks. Her ball control is amazing even when she’s having to veer a different direction. She’s still smacking balls all over the court including some from the back row.

Codey had an outstanding day on Saturday recording a number of amazing kills, helping 16 Red go 3-0. That included a timely shot off a blocker’s hand and out of bounds to finish the win over FaR Out 16 Black. Codey pounds balls with authority and will continue to grow playing high-level club teams.
