About Anna
Expert Analysis
Chris Fitzgerald | Prep Dig Scout
Anna Jelinek has been a winner at every level of volleyball. And now she can call herself a state champion. Jelinek has been part of a successful core group who has played for Nebraska One, qualifying open multiple times, and this past high school season she won a state title for Norris High School, dethroning Skutt Catholic who had won the previous nine state titles in their class. Jelinek is the true definition of a six rotation outside where she is so solid with her ball control and knows how to score points using a variety of shots. She will head to Long Beach State where she’s the type of athlete who will find a way to contribute.

Jelinek and Norris would not be denied. We knew this Long Beach State commit would need to have a massive outing to dethrone the nine-time defending Class B champions. Jelinek met that challenge with 22 kills on a whopping 73 swings throughout the five-set struggle. This was also accompanied by all the exceptional ball control you’d expect from one of Nebraska’s best six-rotation athletes.

Jelinek has been tantalizingly close to the state title in every year of her Norris career. She began her prep journey as the team’s starting libero before becoming one of the state’s most prolific outside attackers. The Titans have the unique challenge of competing in Class B with a nine-time defending champion standing in their way. However, Jelinek’s high-level experience and competitive fire could make the difference in her final fall campaign.

There’s little doubt about Jelinek’s leadership status in the Norris offense. The Long Beach State commit, who was an all-tournament selection at GJNC on the club side, paced the Titans with over 400 kills and the largest share of service receptions on the team. Jelinek is the ideal fit for Norris’ quick offense that is predicated on quality ball control, and we saw that materialize again in Lincoln.
