About Willow

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Since my mom, who was a Division I volleyball player, was my coach in my early years, I have vast knowledge of the game and can quickly adjust to the style and speed of my opponent. I am able to read the court better than most and I have developed a quick transition off the net with the ability to hit at the top of my jump.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a determined, hard-working, energetic and a team player who learns quickly and adapts to the pace of the game. I maintain a high energy and always encouraging teammates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was involved in student council, volunteer with a dog rescue by the name of “Paws for Miles” and have received academic honors my first year of High School.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership through my sports but also as part of student council this year. I assisted in organizing spirit week, Spring Dance and multiple fund raisers. The skills that I developed from these activities include time management, organization and the ability to lead peers.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I may be facing my biggest challenge has been changing clubs when I was 13. Not only was this the first year my mom was not my head coach, but I was playing for a new club with new teammates and coaches. It pushed me outside my comfort zone and made me realize the player I was and am.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a competitive DI college that will push me to become a better person, player and provide an education that will lead me to become a successful adult.

Smith (*pictured) is currently among the top five offensively in the GGCL as she is part of a very capable one-two punch for the Lions at the net. At 2.3 k/s, she is a high potential prospect as she has been showing good progress and and aggressive impact since the start of the recent club season. Ursuline is developing some big experience as they have faced a gauntlet of a schedule thus far including a recent 3-2 win over Bishop Fenwick in which Smith delivered 12 kills to go with three blocks.
