About Mia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I have very quick reaction time, and always going for every ball even if it is all the way on the other side of the court. I’m always on my toes to move around quickly.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have so much energy on the court to bring up my team and keep pushing them so we can play a great game even if we lose. Even when making mistakes during a rally i go into the next play trying to make up for that. I do get in my head sometimes but so does everyone so to help with that my old coach told me to slap my hand on the sidelines to leave all the negativity in my head off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

At my school I am on the dance team and I volunteer at Three Square.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Some skills I developed being apart of a volleyball team is playing for everyone and not just for yourself. I own up to mistakes I make during a play and fixing it the next one. I push my teammates to be better and to support them so they have confidence in themselves to be the best they can be. I don’t do everything for myself, I do it to inspire others and be there for them.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced the challenge of questioning my love and dedication for volleyball. This past year there were many times I didn’t know if this was for me, but every time I get back on the court for a game or even practice I think I can never leave this all behind. This was the first sport i’ve genuinely loved to play and put all of myself into and I can’t give up the thing that brings me the most joy

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that has a really good education system, and is very positive energy all around. Even if I don’t make it to college for volleyball I still want there to be a chance for me to play for fun at the college because my coach told me and my team to never stop playing.
