Talented setters to follow at the Lone Star Regionals 18s

The club volleyball season is almost over for the class of 2025 prospects, with the USAV Girls Junior National Championship coming up in just over a month, in Salt Lake City. Many teams from around the country have already secured a spot in the tournament, but several others are still looking to qualify and this weekend the teams from Texas will have a great opportunity to do it by competing at the Lone Star Regionals. The event is going to take place at the Legends Event Center, in Bryan, from Saturday to Sunday and will have as many as 56 teams from the Lone Star State competing for the eight bids available. The tournament is going to feature some serious talent from the club volleyball scene in Texas, and we're taking the days leading up to it to highlight those players. Now, we look into the setters: Lyssy will set for the Alamo 18 Premier team that will compete in Bryan this weekend. She's a new addition to the team, having joined from [program_tooltip program_id='431257' first='San' last='Antonio Magic'], and immediately strengthened the team at the setter position. Lyssy is an outstanding playmaker, who has a great touch on the ball and thrives by accelerating the game to the pins without losing precision. A true all-around player, she takes on hitting duties when at the net with great efficiency, blocks at a high level and is also a great asset on the backcourt with her ability to get opponents out of system with her serves and her defensive production. Francis will lead the BCS Skyline 18 Royal team in the 18 Bid division. A tall and technique setter, she has a lot to offer with her playmaking and typically has the team's offense firing at all cylinders thanks to her precision and intelligent distribution. Francis can also help the team score points herself, turning into a hitter who makes contact with the ball at a very high point and is excellent with her shot selection when needed. Keep an eye out when she gets to the service line too because her floaters often get opponents out of system. Garza will be with the MoCo Mavs 18 Red team that will be on the court this weekend. A setter with great hands, she runs the team's offense in a very smooth way, keeping her hitters involved and in a rhythm. One of Garza's main strengths at setter is her mobility, which allows her to easily track passes off the net and get to the ball with plenty of time to get her body in the best possible position to make contact with the ball. She's also a solid defensive player, who has great ball control to get digs and tremendous effort to keep the ball off the floor. De Leon and her STVA 18 Mizuno teammates will make the trip to compete in Bryan this weekend. She joined the club this season after a stint with San Antonio Elite and has been an interesting addition with her ability to play different roles for them. De Leon is primarily a setter for them and she's very creative with her playmaking, speeding things up and moving hitters around whenever possible. She can be used as a libero too and uses her excellent ball control and incredible determination to cover ground and keep the ball off the floor on the backcourt. Highlights Cicherski will be with TW Skyline 18 Royal team that will fight for a bid this weekend. She's an incredibly technical setter, who has some of the best setting hands in her age group in the Houston area and does whatever it takes to get her hitters in a good position to score. Cicherski is very intelligent and one of the things that set her apart from many other setters is her ability to understand what's going on on the court and adjust on the fly. She also plays great defense at the right back position and generates many transition plays for her team.
