Texas High School Report Vol 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Texas High School volleyball season is now upon us.&nbsp; Last season there were some amazing teams and super competitive matches that took place.&nbsp; Everyone is practicing hard to solidify their lineups in order to chase the ultimate prize, a State Championship.&nbsp; There have been some big tournaments that have happened over the past few weeks and we are already starting to see some fireworks.&nbsp; Let's take a closer look at who is standing out for these teams on the rise.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Lovejoy Leopards</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Leopards are a staple atop the volleyball standings over the last few decades and this season is no different.&nbsp; Although they had a key departure from their lineup from last year, it seems as though they just keep churning out big guns to battle.&nbsp; Senior [player_tooltip player_id='318142' first='Bella' last='Lopez'] has answered the call for who will take on the reigns as the offensive MVP so far this season.&nbsp; The talented scorer leads the team in kills and soars above the net and over blockers that try to get in her way.&nbsp; Junior pin [player_tooltip player_id='433635' first='Holland' last='Hutchins'] is proving to be ready for the big stage also as she has been killing everything that is set up to her.&nbsp; By swinging mainly on the right side, she has the offensive scheme balanced and keeping the defense on their toes.&nbsp; If this team can stay going “pin to pin” they will wear some defenses out quickly.&nbsp; Senior let side [player_tooltip player_id='254302' first='Skylar' last='Jackson'] is no stranger to this as she has been a key contributor to this squad for the past three years.&nbsp; In her final senior season, I know that she will not let this team down when the going gets tough.&nbsp; The six-rotation stud has both the pedigree and the experience to help them battle against anyone.&nbsp; Senior Middle Blocker Addie Lloyd will be using every inch of her tall six-foot three frame to slow down opposing attackers at the net.&nbsp; They will need her on both sides of the ball if they are to go far in the playoffs.&nbsp; Senior Coco Natarajan and junior [player_tooltip player_id='413355' first='Camryn' last='Penn'] run a fabulous six-two offense.&nbsp; They both know what it takes to win and are fierce competitors on the court in a leadership role.&nbsp; Senior libero Avery Gray has been strong commanding the troops in the back row so far as she leads the team in digs.&nbsp; We will see if they can gel together and prove once again that the Lovejoy community can face anyone's best day.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Cornerstone Christian Warriors</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Although they don't belong to a specific UIL, TAPPS or SPC conference that will contend for a state title, this team has higher aspirations to be named in the top high school teams in the entire country.  With their current roster, they have a legit shot at it.  They have lost some key components to last season's roster, however Head Coach Mike Carter is the master at reloading.  Senior middle Caleigh Cervenka has been in this program for a while and will be sure to help lead the newcomers who have joined them for a solid season.  Super sensational sophomore setter/right side [player_tooltip player_id='482109' first='Sydney' last='Whisenton'] is a special talent who can do everything on the court at a high level.  [player_tooltip player_id='821817' first='Charlie' last='George'] and [player_tooltip player_id='523942' first='Piper' last='Pease'] are two monsters at the net who can block and attack like seasoned pros although they are only sophomores.  Both have big cannons for arms and look to unleash them on anyone who stands in this team's way.  [player_tooltip player_id='519327' first='Brooke' last='Oney'], Breya Dawson, [player_tooltip player_id='765132' first='Senahla' last='Thomas'] and [player_tooltip player_id='447271' first='Gia' last='Miko'] are all super tall with strong frames that can pack a solid punch.  Another stud phenom is sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='744600' first='CLAIRE' last='M BOLTON'] who has burst onto the scene since this past club season.  She is another jolt of electricity for this already explosive squad.  Add Super libero [player_tooltip player_id='482103' first='Sara' last='Gonzalez'] and you have one star-studded lineup who will be traveling the country reppin' Texas very well.  We will have some more reports on them as the season continues. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite teams and athletes.&nbsp;
