Hard to believe it's already time for club team previews, but here we are. The season is about a month away. It sets up to be one to remember.

We'll kick off the previews with Iowa Select 17U Mizuno since the club was the first to respond to emails from Prep Dig soliciting rosters. Help us help you.

This squad is one with a roster largely made up of the same athletes that led the program's 16U squad to a 35th-place finish out of 75 teams in the Open Division at the 2025 AAU National Tournament during June. The team was disappointed with its seventh-place finish at the USAV Iowa Regional Tournament, but to its credit, improvement happened throughout the season, leading to the strong finish.

That momentum could carry over into this campaign with a group of accomplished student-athletes perhaps gelling quicker than a year ago. They're all improved individually and many of them are coming off of solid prep seasons.

Two members of the team already have found college homes, and they're both middle hitters. Durant's [player_tooltip player_id='493971' first='Allison' last='Toft'] committed to Kansas State, while [player_tooltip player_id='493984' first='Kyla' last='Ramler'] from Western Dubuque has pledged to Illinois State.

Toft should be champing at the bit to get on the court after being limited to seven matches this high school season. In those competitions, she piled up 95 kills (.288), 14.0 blocks and 68 digs during 19 sets.

Ramler helped the Bobcats reach the regional final, where they fell to eventual state champion North Scott. The junior recorded 358 kills (.369) and 64.0 blocks in 95 sets.

While Ramler and Toft are likely best in the middle, both players are athletic and versatile enough to swing effectively from the pins. Select could choose that path to get more out of its attack.

That attack also includes Pleasant Valley all-stater [player_tooltip player_id='490015' first='Mazie' last='Sweers']. One of the best six-rotation outside hitters entering the 2025 prep campaign, the junior took the reigns at setter this season helping the Spartans back to the state tournament.

While it's comforting to know Sweers can distribute assists to the attack, she should be a bigger part of finishing points in club than she was during the high school season. That's because this Select outfit boasts one of the state's better setters in Wilton's [player_tooltip player_id='490009' first='Leah' last='Caffery'].

The Beaver junior dished out 941 assists this fall, which ranked 15th in Iowa among all classifications. She also contributed 79 kills (.315), 300 digs and 26.0 blocks, proving to be an all-court performer.

Caffrey's Wilton classmate, Abren Bazal, also shows up on the Select 17U roster. She's coming off of a season that saw her impact the action all around the floor as evidenced by her 316 kills (.234) and 342 digs this fall.

Bettendorf is supplying a pair of its top juniors to Select 17U. Reece Harrell started for the Bulldogs, chipping in 57 kills and 46.0 kills as a defensive presence in the middle of the net. Abby Dykstra came up with 78 digs, 20 kills and 7.0 blocks as a member of the rotation.

It was a super junior season for [player_tooltip player_id='489674' first='Jordan' last='Tegeler'] at Northeast High in Goose Lake. She racked up 297 kills (.337), 218 digs and 36.0 blocks.

Select 17U also includes two student-athletes from Moline (IL) High, Zoe Perez and Latasia Green-Huffman. Perez paced the Maroons with 4.6 digs per set, and Green-Huffman led the way with 4.4 kills per set in 2025.
