At 6’+, Alana is a rare breed of fast, athletic, springy, and with a swing that’s consistently terminal. She’s all about being an M2, and excels with a setter that understands how high to set her at zero tempo. Anything in front of the setter on offense is code for “I’m ready to be set”, and is constantly working her transition to be available to hit. On defense, her block is so long and penetrates so well that even her BLOCKS are terminal. At current, her under-the-radar status is implied by being on the second-best high school team in her own district. If more kids like Alana show up at Fishers, however, that status might change—-and in a hurry.

Of the middles listed today, none are faster on transition than Alana. She terminates on every swing, and does it with a whip-like shoulder and a heavy hand. Playing much bigger than her 6′ frame might indicate, Miss Kay takes advantage of opponents’ lack of size on both offense and defense. Her highlight reels are filled with terminal plays in both, and is only getting better from here.

Speaking of length, Alana has it in droves, and uses all of it to her advantage regularly. On the attack, she’s more of an M2, but prefers a ball high and fast enough to account for her long reach and high attack point. On defense, she’s tough to go around or through, as her lengthy reach is disciplined and strong, regardless of which position she is blocking. Alana is a full package M2 for the next level, and has a full four years of club to go to perfect her craft.
