We’ll wrap up in the Omaha area, where Nowling joined a host of other high-profile 2028s in Gretna’s starting lineup. While many of her first-year peers brought attacking prowess in the front row, Nowling helped anchor Gretna’s exceptional backcourt defense and serve receive. She was among Nebraska’s freshman dig leaders last fall, leading to more breakout moments with Premier Nebraska 15 Gold. Nowling has set a high bar for her sophomore journey.

We’ve also seen her command large areas of the court in serve-receive, freeing up 15 Gold’s attackers to terminate. Upcoming qualifiers will be a perfect venue for Nowling’s continued ascent.

Nowling has been a high-impact libero wherever she’s suited up. She earned a wealth of starting experience for Gretna last fall and helped the Dragons make a postseason return. Nowling then entered the spotlight at one of last year’s Prep Dig Showcase events and was a constant force in six-on-six drills. It’s no surprise to see this 2028 star running the defensive operations for Premier Nebraska 15 Gold, a team with big aspirations for this year’s club campaign.

Bring on the freshmen. Gretna High School has been an early focus for our Class of 2028 coverage, and Nowling adds another layer in the back row. She has averaged nearly three digs per set in her first several matches of prep action. The Dragons are transitioning to the Class B ranks this year and have a lot of new faces to accompany this move. Nowling’s hot start could be a positive indicator for an upcoming Gretna resurgence.
