I’ve been exposured to Kenny’s volleyball exploits multiple times during the last few months. The Ames junior impressed during a scouting opportunity at the Mizuno Midwest Challenge while operating through six rotations. There was plenty of explosion off the court and power at the pin. Lateral quickness and sharp reflexes aid in getting the job done in the back row. She’s sound in serve-receive and understands setting up behind the block. Kenny was performing at a high level again when she showed up at the Prep Dig Iowa Stock Up Showcase during July in Clive. She would be a nice addition to plenty of college programs.

Here’s another one of those Iowa Clash stars. Kenny carried the banner for Iowa PowerPlex 16U Chapman, which earned a runner-up finish at that early-season event. Things only got better for Kenny after tournament wins at the Quad Cities Quest and Midwest National Tune-Up. She was an all-around mainstay the whole way and brought a lot more than scoring potential to the 16U Chapman lineup. Kenny’s precise first contacts and aggressive serves added another positive element to her growing scouting report.

Claire Kenny Claire Kenny 5'8" | OH/DS/L Ames | 2028 State IA is going to put a hurt on the ball.  The 2028 six rotation outside hitter was impressive for PowerPlex 16 Chapman at the Windy City Qualifier.  I was impressed with how she was able to swing big, but yet remain under control.  She can score points in bunches and can do it from anywhere on the court.  She teams up with her high school setter in Salina Schaper Salina Schaper 5'5" | S/DS/L Ames | 2028 State IA where the two of them could send them into a new level in Class 5A. 

I’m definitely buying stock in the game of Claire Kenny Claire Kenny 5'8" | OH/DS/L Ames | 2028 State IA who plays for PowerPlex 16 Chapman.  She led Ames High this past season in kills and I can see why.  She can score from both pins, she has a fast approach to the ball and an electric swing where she can score points tooling the block, painting the line, or blasting away hard cross.  This Chapman team is legit.  They are going to be a threat at Iowa Regionals this weekend and beyond. 

Claire Kenny Claire Kenny 5'8" | OH/DS/L Ames | 2028 State IA plays with tempo and urgency. Her approach mechanics are clean — strong penultimate step, explosive takeoff, and full arm extension. She swings aggressively in rhythm but also shows the ability to recycle off the block when the seam closes.

Blocking on the outside, Kenny stays patient before committing. She times her jump well and presses above the tape rather than reacting late. You can see her compete for every net touch — whether it’s sealing a block or covering a deflection. That consistency separates her. ~Theresa @prepdigdakotas
