Brynlee Opland had an outstanding showing at USAV Nationals in Dallas, proving she’s a high-level outside with advanced offensive instincts. Her approach is quick and explosive, giving her the ability to beat the block in tempo and stay effective in both first-ball and broken-play scenarios. Brynlee excels in out-of-system attacks, keeping her swing high and controlled, even off the net or when adjusting to high balls.

She’s smart at the net—mixing in sharp cross-court shots, tooling the outside hand, and attacking the deep corner with precision. In transition, she gets off the net fast and is always ready to reload with a strong, balanced approach. Whether she’s swinging off a perfect pass or creating points off tough sets, Brynlee stays aggressive and efficient, making her a consistent and valuable threat on the pin.

As a libero/DS, she reads hitters early, anticipates the ball’s trajectory, and positions herself to make high-level digs look effortless.

Her platform is clean, her angles are sharp, and she’s fearless when laying out to keep the ball alive. In serve receive, Brynlee delivers consistent, in-system passes that allow setters to run tempo offenses. Add in her vocal leadership, relentless pursuit, and ability to control the backcourt—she’s a player you want in your rotation when the match is on the line.

Opland is a six rotation outside for East Ridge and she can pack a serious punch. She skillfully dominates opponents across the net with off-speed shots, shots, and relentless defense. Opland works hard in every rotation whether she is in transition or the outlet.

While Opland can and does play multiple positions, she ruled the backcourt during the January thaw. Her serve receive was impressive as was her digging and block coverage. She anticipated well, effectively read the opposing teams setter, and moved quickly and efficiently making her a force as a libero and one of the key pieces to this championship squad.

Brynlee is one of those kids that probably could have gone into either the pin hitters or libero as she is quite good at both. At East Ridge where Opland preps, she average 3.4 digs/set and had an outstanding 64 aces on the year. Opland is solid in serve receive and reads the opposing teams setter very well which gives her the ability to pick up many setter dumps. She is also taller for a libero and can get her hands on many of those pesky carefully placed deep tips or pushes that outside like shove into the deep corners.

Opland is a pin hitter with great potential and a well-rounded player. She can play 6 rotations and not lose a beat. Opland knows when to mix up her shots to earn points. She is aggressive and smart in her style of play and brings exceptional serve receive and defense to add.
