I was so impressed with Kennedy Klein when she was at the state tournament for Dowling Catholic as a sophomore last fall.  Even though her team dropped a heartbreaker, she was one to take note of. She has a knack for scoring points on the pin and an all around skillset where she can serve receive and defend.  Her Iowa United 16 Timmerman team has been impressive all club season.  They have a national bid to Indy and have gone toe to toe with 16 Open teams throughout the season. 

You can’t talk about Dowling without talking about the Klein sisters. Although they play the same position, they have very different styles of playing. There’s no debate that they are both key players for the Maroons. My favorite thing about Kennedy is that, although she is an underclassman, she plays with so much maturity. In situations where most sophomores want to try and go for a flashy kill, Kennedy finds the smartest option. Whether that’s an aggressive tip to the deep corner, a tool shot, or simply just getting the opponent out of system, she can read and adapt. She also brings that same game play to her serve receive, almost always giving her setter multiple offensive options. I am very excited to see how she contributes to her team this fall.

Kennedy Klein Kennedy Klein 6'0" | OH Dowling Catholic | 2028 State IA is another athlete who had a solid state tournament appearance where she racked up 11 kills in a quarterfinal loss to Ankeny.  However, I remember seeing Klein play on the pin for her RVA Roots 15s team last spring at the JVA World Challenge.  I just wrote, “Who is that kid who can fly”.  And that was Klein.  She is so smooth where she transitions well from her pass to attack.  She can handle a high volume of serve receive and is able to mix in some finesse with her power.  Her contact point is high and is the type of attacker who can score from the outside or right side out of serve receive.
