Ella Grove Ella Grove 5'8" | OH Saint Johns Catholic Prep | 2027 State VA moved up from 144 to 133 in the rankings. A smaller outside at 5’8″ who plays six rotations, providing offense hitting in the back row for the Metro National 17 team. They did very well in the Freedom Division in Junior Nationals finishing 19th out of 64 teams. They also rank 8th regionally in AES.

Despite her height she brings a nice 9’8″ approach jump. This could make her an effective defensive specialist who could hit from the back row if the front row play does not pan out.

Ella was the leader in kills for her high school Saint Johns Catholic Prep. They struggled during the season, ending it by being swept by Annapolis Area Christian in the first round of the IAAM championship.

At some point Ella appeared on my radar because she ranks at number 144 in the class of 2027. At that time she played for Liberty Elite. Jeremy noted her move to Metro from Liberty Elite.

While listed at 5’8″ she hit the ball pretty well. She also played a solid six rotations, also providing offense from the back row. For the last couple years she has earned a spot on the Frederick County First Team All County.

She brings a good approach jump, reaching 9’8″ to give her success in the front row. While there still needs a little more consistency in finding the court she still stood out as the main banger on the Metro 17 team.

When you rank as many players as I do sometimes a player will fall through the cracks. For Metro National Ella was playing six rotations creating offense from the front row and back row. She plays for Saint Johns Catholic Prep in Frederick Maryland. She ranks 144 in our class of 2027 rankings. She was banging the balls pretty good for a player ranked 144.

Metro National still has one more match to play tomorrow morning. Win it and they will finish first in their pool. Lose it they finish second or third.
