Hailey Johnston Hailey Johnston 5'10" | S Hamilton | 2027 State AZ has put together an impressive season at Hamilton, and while the Huskies are loaded with firepower, Johnston is the brains behind the operation. She has totaled 798 assists this season, ranking her second among seniors and third overall in the state of Arizona. With so many offensive weapons at her disposal, Johnston has done an excellent job managing the offense and putting her hitters in positions to be successful.

What stands out about Johnston is her ability to run a balanced floor. Hamilton has legitimate termination options across the net, but having weapons only matters if you have a setter capable of utilizing them. Johnston understands when to establish her middles, when to push the tempo to the pins, and when to go back to the hitter who has the hot hand. Her decision-making keeps opposing blockers guessing and allows Hamilton’s offense to stay aggressive.

She also brings a level of composure that is important for a team with postseason aspirations. Johnston doesn’t need to be the player taking the big swing to have a massive influence on the outcome of a rally. Her location, tempo, and ability to make smart choices in transition are often what create those opportunities in the first place.

Nearly 800 assists at this point in the season speaks volumes about both her consistency and the responsibility she carries within this offense. Hamilton may have plenty of players capable of putting the ball away, but Johnston is the one connecting all the pieces—and her ability to command the floor has made her one of the most productive senior setters in Arizona this season.

Hailey showed exactly why she’s considered one of the top setters in the state. She runs the offense with tempo and confidence — quick to the ball, dynamic in her movement, and constantly communicating to keep her team organized and connected. No matter the quality of the first contact, she consistently delivered a hittable, well-located second ball.

Her steadiness stands out just as much as her skill. She’s consistent in both her decision-making and her presence, bringing a calm command to every rotation.

Defensively, she elevated her impact even more. She covered her hitters with urgency, read the game well, and turned defensive touches into offensive opportunities. Hailey isn’t just distributing — she’s creating. A true playmaker who influences the game from start to finish.
