South County has also benefitted from the addition of two Metro 14 players. Eliana Butler Eliana Butler 5'8" | S/RS South County | 2030 State VA , who set for Metro 14 also fits in that capacity for South County running a 6/2. It appears she stays in the front row to hit right side where her .370 hitting percentage leads the team.

At 6’0″ Guthrie is a few inches shy of reaching 10 feet with her approach jump. Give her some time to improve her physical strength and she will turn into a dominant force in the future.

Jordin ranks number 10 in our class of 2030.

Jordin brings an approach jump of at least 9’7″ to the pins. Playing for South County she can dominate at left side, but she also wants to keep her feel for the right side when returning to Metro.

For South County she leads the team in kills, while another Metro player Sloan Tann Sloan Tann 5'8" | OH South County | 2029 State VA ranks second. Jordin ranks in the top ten in our class of 2030.

For Metro 14 Jordin Guthrie Jordin Guthrie 6'0" | RS/OH South County | 2030 State VA s hits right side, yielding the left side to Nadia Wooten Nadia Wooten 5'11" | OH Bishop O'Connell | 2030 State VA and Sai Herndon-Brown Sai Herndon-Brown 5'11" | OH The Bullis School | 2030 State VA . She lists as both a right side and outside on the South County roster. Another Metro player Sloan Tann Sloan Tann 5'8" | OH South County | 2029 State VA takes one of the left side positions while senior Payton Boateng takes the other. Those two are second and third on the team in kills. Sitting atop the leader board in kills by a wide margin is Jordin Guthrie Jordin Guthrie 6'0" | RS/OH South County | 2030 State VA .

Whether she is banging the ball from the left or right side Jordin is also having an impact on the South County team as a frosh. In their most recent match against Alexandria City Jordin led the team in kills with 17

They also have setter Victoria Hobson Victoria Hobson 5'4" | S/DS/L South County | 2028 State VA , who sets for Paramount . This is a team strong on club experience.

They are playing TAV Houston. Those Texas teams are always tough to beat, although in the first set Metro handled them well 25-9. The second set was a nail biter if you were a parent. While Metro thought they carried a comfortable 22-18 lead in the second set, no lead is comfortable in Open. TAV Houston battled back to pull within one 24-23.

With a beautiful pass everyone was expecting a set to one of Metro’s bangers on the left side. However, Abigail Chang Abigail Chang 5'9" | S/RS | 2030 State VA had other ideas and flipped back a meaty backset to Jordin Guthrie Jordin Guthrie 6'0" | RS/OH South County | 2030 State VA . She tooled it off the block for a 25-23 set and match win.

For Metro Jordin rotates between right side and middle, but she can also play left. In the set that I watched she put up a couple good blocks in the middle that rallied Metro to a win over Blue Ridge . It just so happens that the talent level on the left side is just a bit crowded for Metro. Fortunately for Jordin, that versatility to play multiple positions creates opportunities for her in high school.

South County had a rough season last year. With her Metro counterpart occupying one left side Jordin could have an opportunity to win the second left side. If not that there is always right side or a middle.
