About Kaylie
Expert Analysis
Anthony Jones | Prep Dig Scout
Kaylie is another great setter from the class of 2028, and one that has shown a high level of play throughout region play and NQ play. Her awareness is one thing that stands out to me. She’s seems to know how to manipulate the defense by using her eyes, body positioning, and timing to create openings rather than just reacting to the pass. There’s a noticeable willingness to take risks in the right moments, whether that’s going behind in transition or mixing in an aggressive setter dump to steal a point. Her court IQ shows in those tough moments as someone who understands the game at a high level.
Her contributions in other areas besides setting have also stood out to us over at PrepDig. First, defensively, she is active, reads the game well, and consistently keeps rallies alive with effort plays and smart positioning. She seems to see the game at an elite level and can anticipate plays as they are happening. Also her serve continues to improve and already creates problems for opposing passers with placement and tempo variation. She knows who to attack and will attack their seams to create chaos for them.
Kaylie is a setter to get to know, and is someone who is going to start popping up on college radars over the next year. She has all the tools to be very elite for the class of 2028.

never gives up on a play, no matter how tough the pass. Her court awareness is outstanding, consistently putting her in position to make something out of nothing.
She makes smart, intentional decisions—knowing when to be aggressive with a dump and when to trust and utilize her go-to hitters. Her connection with the middles was especially strong today, and she played a key role in her team’s success on Day 1.

Kaylie is a younger setter that you need to get out and see; as she is playing well past her years as a setter. You would never know she is a 2028 from the way she plays. First she delivers hittable balls to all areas on the court, regardless of where she is. Her form and movement is clean and she repeats it easily each time. Most importantly she never just settles for the safe set, as she will take the best set for her team in that moment.
She is very athletic as well, has great footwork that not only benefits her with her setting but is also a major asset in defense as well. With this footwork and positioning it allows her to get to tough passes, while her consistent release and accurate sets make her a reliable playmaker under pressure. Beyond these technical skills, she demonstrates strong leadership, communicating effectively and keeping her team organized and focused. She is the quarterback of her team and her teammates respond well to her in all areas of the game.
Kaylie is a future star for Basha over the coming years, but don’t wait till high school season to come see her. She is someone who is playing to a high level for Omni at the moment and if you get a moment and want to see this athletic setter… make your way to a tournament one of these weekends!
