Layla was as dominate as ever at the showcase as a middle. She is going to be something special if she plays like this all the time. As a middle she has the all around package for someone so young as she can be dominate in both her offense and defense. On defense she does well getting laterally to close the block and seems to always know where the ball is going as it shows she has a great feel for the game. She presses very well on the block on the pins and in the middle. This results in a ton of blocks and block touches that help slow the ball down for the passers to keep everyone in system.
Where she really shines is her offensive game as she is already someone that can do pretty much every set a middle needs to know. She can run in front and behind the setter and has already developed a pretty devastating slide that is highly effective when she connects on it. She gets great loads on her approaches and use those to get some fast swings behind the ball. She can generate a lot of pace from a compact swing that really makes her effective as a middle. Layla is someone who has already been on our radar but really confirmed her ability with what she did at the showcase.

was on point because her fundamentals came across from drills to live action. In the positional work, she was always light on her feet, kept close to the antennas, and pressed her hands across the net the whole time. And the same habits showed up when the scrimmages began. She was ready in transition, got off the floor quickly, and made opposing hitters change their swings with how she set up her block. ~Theresa@prepdigdakotas

is ranked 11th overall in her state in the class of 2030 and if the college coaches in attendance at the Indiana Convention Center were not already familiar with her, they are now. The 6’3″ middle blocker from Chandler Prep playing with Omni 14N1 earned a Top Performer award in Indianapolis by doing what her Prep Dig profile already suggests she does well: staying calm, staying coachable, and competing with a patience and explosiveness that does not always come packaged together in a player this young. Her blocking mechanics and footwork in transition were both evaluated positively by court coaches throughout the event and the manner in which she moved through the system showed a player whose volleyball IQ is developing at a high level. She led through presence, connected with teammates naturally, and brought genuine sportsmanship to every segment of the event. At 6’3″ and just beginning her high school career, the conversation around her ceiling is one that programs need to be starting right now. Please help me congratulate her on earning Top Performer honors at this showcase.

is absolutely one of the first names that comes to mind. The thing that stands out most about her is her relentless work ethic. Every time she steps on the court, she competes with nonstop energy — working hard along the net, closing blocks, and staying active in transition from point to point.
Layla has developed into a major offensive presence with the ability to score in a variety of ways, and her impact extends far beyond attacking. She’s a great teammate, brings strong energy to her side of the court, and even creates pressure behind the service line with an aggressive, effective serve.
There’s so much to like about her game already, and we truly believe she’s poised for a breakout high school season in Arizona. With her mindset, motor, and continued development, the future is incredibly bright for Layla.

was locked in all weekend and made her presence felt in every phase of the match. Offensively, she was incredibly dynamic, finding ways to score from multiple spots across the front row. Whether she was running quick tempo in the middle or staying available in transition, she attacked with confidence and kept opposing blockers on their heels.
At the net, Layla’s blocking was a major factor in her team’s success. She did a great job closing seams, pressing over the net, and making it difficult for hitters to find clean swings. Her timing and discipline made her a constant disruption for opposing offenses.
What stood out even more was her effort away from the ball. Despite playing the middle, Layla showed impressive awareness and hustle, aggressively covering her teammates and staying engaged in every rally. She even turned defensive moments into opportunities, making smart plays off the block and helping extend rallies for her team.
Layla’s combination of offensive versatility, strong net play, and relentless effort makes her a true difference-maker in the middle.

Flowing along the tape with athletic fluidity, Layla Duncan demonstrated exceptional movement patterns. Her lateral coverage is quick and balanced, allowing her to stay open to the ball and present herself as an early offensive option. Rather than drifting through mechanics, she remains intentional in her spacing and availability, making life easier for setters and harder for defenders. ~Sophia Jeanpierre @prepdig_fl
